Default MS4/Stalled/Geared LS1 vs 07 GSXR 600

Ok, i know there are a lot of threads where an OP who knows nothing about bikes tell about an encounter where their two-wheeled counterpart didnt even know they were there and that they "smoked them," but this is not one of them.

Today, as i was leaving work for my lunch, i am in the turn lane with a white GSXR 600 that is stretched (dont know why, theres no need for it on a 600 and it kills handling), and a Yoshimura TRC exhaust with the titanium canister. He was at the front and then a minivan, then me. As the light turn greens he takes off and i think, great, my one chance to run a bike has disappeared as i wait for this mom to get out of my way. She finally goes, i switch lanes and go to catch up and i see him way ahead but im going the speed limit and catching fast so i knew he was going slow to wait for me.

As i get about 50 feet from him i hear him start downshifting a few times so i know he's game. I dont know why he expected me to want to run (even though i did) because i did nothing out of the ordinary to entice him. Either way, i pull beside him, look over, and nail it. We are going 53mph (i looked down right as i nailed it and its also a perfect downshifting spot for my 4.11s for 2nd gear) and as my car goes to downshift he nails it. He took off just a split second before my A4 actually caught and creeps his rear tire to my front bumper where we let off around 100mph with him a bikelength in front.

I give him a thumbs up and he downshifts again, screaming in my ear, and i nail it again (hes right beside me) and this time my A4 catches a hair before he nails it. I pull half a car off my jump and he starts SLOWLY pulling back and we let off at 100ish mph again with him at my mirror. We only got two 50 mph spurts but i was definitely happy with the results.

I pull up to him at the next light and ask him if its a 600 and he says "yes, what do you have done, it runs like a bat out of hell" I reply "cam, stall, gears, exhaust LS1." I then asked "what gear did you start in?" and he yelled "1st both times!" 50mph in 1st is pretty high to me, i think he oughtve started in second but either way, he was definitely in his powerband. He shifted to second but never got to third.

I know if we had went longer he wouldve pulled a little better but i damn sure hung well and anything can happen on the street. If i had drag radials i wouldve LOVED to run him from a dig because id be willing to bet id yank him because its diffcult to drag race a bike until you get used to it. Roll racing is one thing, launching a bike is a whole different story. It took me a lot of track time to get my bike to run well.

Sorry for the long thread but im excited and rarely post so i thought id share. I thought about getting my phone out for the camera but didnt really have time for it because it happened so fast. But i definitely let it cross my mind.

good kill. it seems like a well built LS1 with the right combo of mods seems to run pretty well against 600's. My goat did not do quite as well as you but it held it's own against a few bikes. I haven't gotten to run any bikes in my Vette yet . Did a pull against a pair of busas one night but they had big dudes on them with fat chicks on the back, lol. Plus they were prolly just going part throttle, b/c they did not really pull. Looks like you have a nice bike as well.

First gear at about 50? The bike would have definitely been into his powerband. I have an 07 R6 and i can do a little over 90 in first with the stock gearing.

So very nice kill man.

Good runs, car must be really strong to trap 125+ cam only, or the rider not the strongest. Not saying he wasn't good, but it's a pretty noob move to stretch a 600 (or any street bike IMO), that typically goes with someone inexperienced. It's always fun having equal races with car vs. bike though, most bike owners are shocked.

Before you hate, I have have owned and raced an 06 600 and 06 1000. Oh and 5 f-bodies.

1st gear is definitely on par, I believe my 600 went around 85mph in 1st with stock sprockets. My 1000 would go 110 or so.

The sad truth is that most riders on the street cannot ride the bike to it's full potential. So a decent driver can capitalize on that. I once had a guy on an R1 that should have murdered me. But everytime he went to shift it was like it took him forever and I would catch back up then he would pull away easily again. It was that or he was toying with me, lol, but I bet not b/c of the pissed look on his face.

Yes I'm very experienced with bikes and he wasn't the greatest but he did pretty well. He had to use the clutch because it was the 1-2 shift but even with the clutch it was pretty fast. I think stretches are dumb on any sportbike unless its strictly drag. Although I modded my bike for the quarter mile I'd rather drag a knee any day.

He had no wheelie issues even being in first with that stretch, but I doubt he would've came up anyways with it being a 600. He gave me a huge thumbs up and I exchanged it and it brought a big grin to my face.

The 411s in the A4 definitely wake this car up and its a blast to drive. Ill be adding a TNT F2 wet kit and running a 150 shot so hopefully 600s will become a bit easier to beat!

And you are definitely correct...most riders are nowhere close to riding a bike to its potential!

Sounds like the car runs stong, it deff depends on the rider though...

I raced my bike in my ta with my friend riding my zx9r, damn close race... then we switched and i smoked my car lol... obviously he isnt a great driver/rider...

If you can run with a 600 with a decent rider your car moves out for the mods you have! Very nice!

Haha, I was looking for the first person to call BS.

Haven't raced a bike yet personally, but I'm not ready to hang with something like that anyway (yet..)

Sweet runs, I'd love to hang with a bike.

What's the 4.11's got your rpms turning at 70/75mph on the hwy? Did it kill mileage/driveability? I've got stock 3.23's now and didn't think people recommended over 3.73's for an a4 car??? What about your top end, is it much lower now? Bet it ***** and gets from a stop though.

I have 4.10s in my 408/TH350 car and with a 4500 stall it ROLLLLLLLLLS out

Great trap speed on your 750 btw! My 1000 was only going around 143. It was stock with a slipon though, and we have a pretty high DA all of the time.

The speed of a bike is so so so dependent on the rider. I stayed side by side with my friend (new rider) on his CBR 600 with my boltons LT1, LOL.

Ive had the 4.11s for awhile. They were one of my first mods to this car. At 75mph in lockup i am around 2800 i believe. I know for a fact that at 70mph in lockup I am at 2600 rpms.

It makes driveability more fun in all aspects. However, gas mileage did drop. I had 2.73s in it and got around 23/27 and then after the gear swap i got 17/19. Now with the cam stall i get around 13.5/17ish. My third gear ends at 116ish. I still have a 4th gear to accelerate in and it doesnt drop off power, but thats OD and you shouldnt be WOT in OD. This is on stock 25.8 inch tires. I plan to get 28", maybe 27" et streets very soon.

Thanks for the congrats! The 750 runs well and i put buses on my friends 05 750 but with the sprocket change in the 750 it is very hard to navigate down the 1320. It stands up in 1st and comes up in 2nd. It did make a drastic difference, though, because exhaust only i trapped 136. Now im trapping 144 so im very happy with the results.
