08 cobalt ss vs 99 camaro ss

If you look close You can see how slow the cars are rolling in the video the two times the camaro pulled away.
I understand eveyone wants to race to thier advantage.
But dont say the camaro messed up and was in the wrong gear. He just wasnt in a gear that was to his advantage is what you want to say.
Cause at 50mph both cars should be in second gear.

The result was not much different than that of the race we started at ~20mph. The difference can be seen between the two races because the Cobalt gets jerked around when he shifts from 1st to 2nd in the last race, and how the Camaro is actually in gear for more than a split second. In the race starting at 2:15 I hit it and immediately had to shift.
It doesn't really matter to me all that much but I can tell you for sure that the Cobalt was in 2nd gear that race. We started at 5000rpm in 1st gear. None of the rolling races were started from 50mph, all of them were 35-40 aside from the last one which was ~20. 35-40 is perfect for the Cobalt in 2nd gear, and pretty good for the Camaro in 1st. With the Camaro in 2nd gear at 35-40 mph it was at a huge dissadvantage as the RPM's were around 2700.

Thats why its " street racing " anything can happen on the street. Speed and what gear your in plays a huge part. No one is ever going to agree. Theres always someone wo has to argue about the way it went down and who " should have won ".
But nice runs man.

I'm not trying to start an arguement here but I know with 100% certainty that we raced from 40mph and the Cobalt was in 2nd gear in the race starting at 2:15.

He just said he wasn't in the gear long. And 1st gear really is long as hell with 3.42 gearing.. Pretty sure 1st gear hits 50 or 55mph, but it's been a while since I've driven my Camaro lol

Again I'm not trying to start an arguement just stating the facts. If Josh was here he'd have my back on this one. We started at roughly 5000rpm in 1st, shifted at 6000.
The trans are a little different than our c5z 6spds.

x2 first gear goes to about 55 in a stock gear'd 6spd fbody.

Exactly, and if you watch the race at 2:15 in that video you'll see we shift less than a second after hitting it. It would have been mechanically impossible for the Cobalt to be in first gear that race.
The other race, yes the Cobalt was in 1st gear.
The other race, yes the Cobalt was in 1st gear.
