Default SS vs.Z28

i found some timeslips floating around my glovebox from my last trip to the track and they reminded me of a fun race i had against an SS.

slips are from late november...(ok yea its an old story buit its 10 degrees out right now!)

I was in the staging lanes next to the nicest SS i've ever seen!! i think it was a 2000 and it was painted Chameleon Purple/Blue (not like GM chameleons, VERY CHAMELEON, must have been 8 different colors)...sitting on chrome ZR1s with blacked out windows....REALLY NICE!!!!!!!

i think we surprised eachother when we raced...i was expecting his car to be all show with a stock motor...i think he saw a plain old Z28 on ZR1s with no apparant drag tires and figured it to be a 13 second car.off the line, i let loose a high 1.6 (hopefully waking him up a bit ) and jumped out a few cars....I got surprised by the fact that once he caught traction he wasn't falling back.....he told me later he was surprised he couldnt reel me in.....I ended up running 12.19 to his 12.41....a second race resulted in my 12.22 to his 12.35....

i talked to him later, nice guy...turned out the "all show no go" car i thought it was had drag radials, heads, cam and longtubes with a quiet exhaust!!!

he asked what i had in my car and i told him it was a stock motor auto with my short list of mods....he was a little surprisd to get beat by an auto with stock heads and cam....

King02SS---i like the 65, very smooth, feels strong all in all i think it was worth it for a brand new 2003 tranny for my 6 year old 98 car.

Since this is the street racing section it deals with races upon thorough fares or streets. It was a feeble attempt at humor saying that this race was indeed conceived upon the track vs. the street.

i know its mostly street racing but its also kill stories and i figured posting this in the drag racing section would have been a bit out of place...thats all
