I can't wait to see another run with these two cars, more so with the Mustang broken in and the driver having a good feel for it. At that point I expect to see the 5.0 pull on the SS but should still be a good race. Do it from a dig and from a roll just to see how both turn out.

Two very nice cars, have fun with them.
^Agreed. This is a GM website, what do you expect? I don't know why that's so hard to understand...
There's more than enough Ford "nut hugging" over there

on the first thread about the 5.0 going 11.8 we gm guys never said it was slow just close too maxed out. Now we see it's not as fast as they say. Ford guys said its not maxed out, we don't know that. Now we see there's lots of room for improvment. After they break in they will only dyno close to 350hp stock if that. After all these years ford made a match for the 4th gen. It's ok ford guys don't give up just mod it up,
cough, cough. superchargers

Speaking of references to EP's 11.8. Why is it that folks keep yelling maxed out when the car had a ******* x-pipe, catback, intake and tune? Headers, then eventually cams and ported heads will make their ways into these cars. The older 4 valves liked massive gears, so maybe these will be the same. EP's car was far from maxed out. That's like putting a lid and full exhaust on a T56'd LS1 and saying "Gaawwwdammmm Clem itz bilt 2 teh maXx!121."

He took the 5.0 to the dyno yesterday. Put down good numbers - 371rwhp in 4th gear, 365rwhp in 5th gear (5th is 1:1 in these cars).
The story of the vid is going to be completely different with the TC off. Not only can you feel the difference in power output on the street, you can hear it in the way the motor winds up.
It will be interesting to see what kind of nanny controls Ford put into these once HPT cracks the PCM and we can read the full tune.

Instead of racing the ls1 again, take it to the track first and get some times. More importantly, a trap speed. With that rwhp and around 3800lbs, it should trap 113-115. Otherwise that dyno was a little friendly.

The stang has about 20 more rwhp but weighs about 700 lbs more.
Just a guess, but I would say it would run 110 mph as it sits now.

My 03Z weighs, with me in it and half a tank, 3300lb. Stock i'm trapping 115 with 348rwhp. So with 25rwhp more and 500lb more, he should be at least 113 in the quarter(maybe 112). For every 100lbs, it takes 10hp to compensate. And thats flywheel 10hp.
And don't think that the 3.31s are a slouch. His Trans gears are very aggressive. First gear is 3.28 and second is 2.90(if I remember correctly). That really helps building up speed even with the weight.

One would assume that - but the 5.0 doesn't have the same type of TC that the 4th gen F-bodies does. I won't know for sure until I can look at the tune with HPT, but I'm assuming that it has torque management among other things built into it.
You have to drive it to understand it, but it isn't just cutting spark on tire spin. It 'feels' like it is cutting spark on every shift for a few seconds and gradually bringing it back in as the RPMs rise. IMHO, Ford wussed out on the production tunes. I'm just hoping HPT doesn't take long to crack the PCM so I can really see what's going on here.
