Default 3v stang called me out.. :(

So im getting out of work today and when i go down the main street i always make a U turn to go home... this time before i make a U, i see a 3v stang and as he passes me he looks at me and i look back at him ..... when i make a U turn i think to myself, I will not call em out... i was next to him and i down shift to pass him to change lanes to his lane, i get in the front and slowly pull away from him, as i look back at him i see that he is coming fast behind me, i stay the same speed for about 10 seconds then when he starts tailgating me i down shift to second from 4th and just gas it, he does too. i slow down and as he switches lanes to my right he gives me a big rev, i got next to him the light and he reved again, asked him what year it was, he said 06 and then asked me i said 02, he said oh cool... he asked me if i wanted to run em and i said idk (i had low fuel) but i told him after, "you dont have enough" but in a jocking way. he then told me.. "lets run em then im pushing like 340hp how about you?" i said "about 330 so its pretty much stock, lets wait for traffic to go a little and we go at 3 honks." he said "ok" after we let traffic go i honked 3X and we both took off even and when he hit second i kept pulling in 1st when i hit second i already had a good 1 1/2 cars on em, i let go and the passenger told me "are you sure that your pushing only 330?" i said "yeah but this engine is underrated so it almost like 350." "Oh yeah, right you have an ls1 right?" and nodded. i gave him thumps up and told him i like white on those stangs and he said thanx and he took off slowly and made a left.

so if this car really had 340hp would it have been that bad of a kill or was he just BS'n me about his power so i would get scared?

You probably have around 320 RWHP. He was probably closer to 290 at the wheels. He was most likely thinking he had 330 at the f/w. if hes lucky.

I can believe it if it had some work done to it.... full bolt on's count as "some" work?

Good runs and seem like an overall good sportsmanship between both of you... The only way he was pushing 340 would be with cams. So did it sound cammed? If not he probably has a few bolt ons and is the type of guy who thinks if they say that a cold air will give you 20hp then he adds that on his factory rating

Good kill none the less

yep ricer math. he probably figured he makes 300 stock, so 20 for intake and 20 for exhaust, lol. I wish it was that way. Jordan's 3 valve made 330whp with cams and bolt ons so you are about right Matt.

its hard for a 3v to compete with any LS without everything. 322rwhp is the highest ive seen from bolt-ons. 340-345 is about the tops for everything plus cams. and 360-370rwhp for H/C/I. its just not a match. FI is the only way a modular gets an easy kill on an LS.

Like F8l Byt Said, unless he was fully bolted, and cammed he wouldn't around 340rwhp... If he did have full boltons then 300rwhp is achievable. Either way good kill.

Didn't sound cammed at all. Had a nice sounding exhaust quiet but loud when he floored it. I'll be honest, I used to think that when I first started to get into cars. To my calculations my car had almost 400 hp I was like 16 though.

So now that you are 17 and more wise you think your LS1 with a K&N filter has 350rwhp
