Default Supercharged Mustang GT vs 2002 Z06 Corvette

Well, I know this is an LS1 site but these were such close races I thought I would share. Hopefully he is on here and will post.

Corvette had an intake only all in all we ran 5 times.

15mph Roll - He honks it off and we both nail it, he hooks, I spin badly, he puts about 3-4 cars on me instantly and it was pretty much over before it began. I think by the time we let up it was like 6 cars. After that, the remaining 4 races were all 40mph rolls

1st 40mph Roll - He honks it off and we both hit it and stay pretty much dead even. I shift into 3rd and fall back to his front tire, then he shifts and we are back even. In the middle of 3rd he starts to creep up a little bit, by the top of 3rd I slowly start to creep back on him and I slam 4th. I am now just barely behind, front bumper is at the edge of his front bumper. He hits 4th and I have a slight lead. As we near the top of 4th I slowly inch out on him and when I let off at 125mph His front end was at my tire.

2nd 40mph Roll - He honks it off and we both hit it, only this time I get a slight jump on him. Results were very similar to the 1st 40mph run only this time his front end was at the front of my door when we let off at 125mph.

3rd 40mph Roll - He honks it off and we both hit it. We stayed pretty much dead even the entire way. He would gain ever so slightly in the mid range rpms and towards the top of the rpm band I would gain it back. When I let off at 125mph we were dead even.

4th 40mph Roll - He honks it off and we both nail it, this time when I go to shift into 3rd I let out the clutch too quickly and my hand slides off the shifter. By the time I get it into 3rd he is a solid 1 1/2 cars ahead and it was over.

All in all these were the closest races I have ever had. It was a really pretty car and he was a really cool guy. So I won 2, lost 2, and tied 1.

The guy is from Ft. Smith and I live in Tulsa, he was just down for the weekend. Pretty sure he is coming back in late June with a tune so yeah if he brings his camera again we will tape it. As is, we only got the 1st run where I spun badly, although the camera car is way ahead and there are about 6 cars that go flying by him, so it was kind of a cool shot.

Sounds like it was a close race, I raced a vert procharged GT a few weeks back, and it was a wicked close race, but he had 3.90 gears and simply ran out of steam by 115~120

What was that race to?
When we race here, we usually mark off about a quarter mile. The few times I've raced there and beat the person I raced, in both cases the driver said "If we had went further than 1/4 I'd have caught up and beaten you" It comes off as a very riceish excuse to me.

I always thought races of the like were about which car was the QUICKEST. Not which car could go the fastest. The latter never really impressed me.

Well it depends what a race starts at to me. We started at 50 so shutting down at 115~120 is kinda blahhh .

But if its a 30 roll or a dig then shutting down at 120 is reasonable unless its realy door to door..

I heard that car was just a regular c5 with an air intake that had the Z06 brake duct stick ons????/

J/K

Good slight kill on the c5Z06..they are monsters.....beating an "intake only Z06" is no joke

Nice runs. The C5Z is pretty quick out of the box.

Good races...I expect you to win and lose some races with stock c5zs prob lose more than win but close either way. That an he still probably had 1k rpms of 4th left since redline in 4th is 145ish....

Unfortunately no - me and electronic technology aren't the closest friends All I've got is a 5 year old sony handcam and a 1 year old 10MP digital camera that actually takes decent video as long as I have a big enough memory card in. I just need to figure out how to get the vids onto the computer.
