Default New truck (BS thread if I may) Now with pics.

I got a new truck today its a 2008 F250 Lariat, 4x4, diesel, crew cab and a short box. Yes its a Ford, the only truck I will own. I got a pretty good deal on it especially since they want over 60K for a new one just like it. I am not paying that kind of money for a truck that will get used like a truck. I'm very happy with it and it drives really nice. Its also surprisingly quiet for a diesel. Plenty of power for now but I'll probably do the usual mods. Can't have a stocker can we. Just thought I'd share. The TA is gone as well, they made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I need to get hot on my third gen anyway and I wanted a truck.

I'll have pics tomorrow guys. I don't think I could do stacks but it will get some mods. I guess just a tune really wakes them up and the damn thing all ready moves out faster than what you would think a truck of that size would do.

I almost bought a King Ranch about six months ago but my wife didn't like the interior as much as the Lariat, I didn't care one way or the other. Hell they are both nice *** rigs. I imagine the King Ranch interior doesn't wear as well as the Lariat though. That leather is really soft and looks like it wouldn't last very long. Just my opinion, not based on facts, but just from the looks and feel.

Nice. If I got a truck, it would be a crew cab short bed.
I'm not sure if I'd go diesel or 6.2l like in the Silverado.
What kind of fuel consumption do you get with that powerstroke?
Probably better than what I get in my damn Grand Cherokee...

I pulled down 24 MPG today. Just putting around and some highway driving. If you are going to tow anything a diesel is the way to go. They seem to get the same mileage regardless of load. A gas engine suffers bad when towing. I work with two guys that tow a camping trailer, same size trailers. One has a diesel, the other has a V-10. The guy with the diesel gets nearly the same mileage, the guy with the gas goes from 18 mpg to about 9 mpg just by hooking up the trailer. Diesels have their downfalls as well but they seem to have fewer if you use it as a truck and haul things and tow.

I don't like the new exteriors on the Ram, but I do like that the Ram can actually be built with a floor mounted shifter. I hate console shifters for some reason.

Actually, I've seen F150s with a floor shifter, but I couldn't build an F250 with a floor shifter on Ford's site.

The only F-150's you can buy with a floor shifter is the Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum.

Nice truck man. I came REALLY close to buying one a lot like you describe. What did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

I've driven every truck, 3/4 ton to 1 ton, sold and I will say that none of them fell as well built as the Ford's. I approached it with the thought I'll give each one a fair shake. The GM's rode better, almost car like, but they didn't feel as sturdy. The Dodge was better feeling than the GM as far as sturdiness but their interiors sucked compared to the other two. Power wise the Duramax felt stronger but not by much and the transmission seemed to hunt more when on a grade. Overall I'd rate them Ford, Dodge and then GM. Thats my opinion but others will disagree and I understand but thats what I think having driven and compared all of them.

I don't think GM makes a 3/4 ton pickup with a floor shifter, do they? Hmm...

The floor shifter is only on the F-150's and the Lincoln's as far as I know. No 3/4 tons have it and if they do it is very well hidden in the option sheets.

Yeah, I can't seem to find it.
That's lame. Console shifters just **** me off.

I just built a completely black SVT Raptor that came out sexy as hell though.

The Raptor is a joke to me, it looks kind of cool but its useless as a tow rig and as a truck. Just my opinion man no offense. I wanted a truck that could do some work and off roading wasn't a high priority. That it can do it is cool and it will be used but I am not going to Moab so I don't need extreme capability.
