Well, I was heading up to wally world today, I was really irritated at people merging at 35mph onto the highway so as I came up to the merge I jumped out to the left to get past them.

As I get up to about 60 I see a new bright blue 5.0 putting along in the right lane, so I got up next to him. It had dealer ad plates still on it so I know its brand new, and the guy looks at me so I give him a thumbs up. He nods but didn't look like he cared so I went on my way about 70, he was going 50-55ish.

About 3 seconds later I see him flying up behind me, so I immediately drop to 2nd* and wait, slowing to 60. He gets next to me and then just points forward and takes off. I was ready so I hit it too, I pulled out about 1/2 car when he shifted but then he came back quick and put about 1.5-2 cars on me up to about 100 where we let out.

I think he would have killed me worse if the guy was driving the car for real, he was shifting very slowly and possibly short-shifting but I couldn't really tell. Very quick car, looked VERY nice in that blue color


CLIFFS: 60-100 2011 5.0 beat me by ~2 cars.

 

Nice death, sucks to see the ls1 go down to the 5.0.

 

It was a fun race, I would figure hes got probably 50-60hp on me so I'm not too sad. I wish I could afford one myself, that thing looked in the blue, like the azure blue Mach 1.

Doh. I don't know why I typed 3rd because I was definitely in 2nd. I still have 3.23 gear as well so its even lower RPM than it would be for a normal M6.

 

If he was shifting slowly, I gotta think he was modded. Otherwise in your bolt-on LS1 should have been right there with him.

 

Your bolt-on formy lost to a stock 5.0? I figured a bolt-on ls1 would have fared better than that. Or atleast had been close

I'm kinda surprised that he got you, I raced a black 5.0 from a dig a couple nights ago and won by a nose (his nose was at my rear wheel when I let out) and my cars only real performance mods are 3" exhaust piping, flowmaster 80series, short headers and a short shifter. Granted the one I raced still had temp tags so I highly doubt it was close to broken in and I might of had the driver advantage (and I'm far from a decent driver).

I doubt he was modded, but it pulled hard. I'm not going to make any excuses for my car, I know my tune is way off because I'm learning how to tune myself and I'm waiting on my wideband from summit but thats the only thing I can think of that might be holding it back.

 

Definitely. Those few mods aren't gonna be enough to beat a competent driver in a broken-in 5.0.

That's the first stock 5.0 kill on a f-body I read about. He works at the dealer if he had ad plates not temp plates. Good death bro.

 

Probably like 330ish? I don't know. My goals for this car don't include going much fast(er) so I really don't mind.

Well atlease they don't run 12'slike magazines say they do. That I saw lastnight at Moroso. Low 13's is what I witnessed. Also maybe caused it was around 87* and 90% humidity.
