Default LS1 vs 2010 Mustang GT

Killed my first stang tonight!

So i was bringing my cousin home after a nice t-top off cruise, and just as im about to turn onto his street I notice mustang headlights coming up fast in my mirror. So i pass up my cousins street and this mustang gets even with me and revs, so i do the same. There is nothing but traffic in front of me so i cant go anywhere and he keeps trying to run me when there cars 100 ft in front of me. We stop at a red light and talk for a little bit(what was done to my car etc.) and then it turns green, before i could find out what was done to his car, and there was still traffic, so we just messed around until we could turn onto an empty street and as soon as we did we lined up and went from about a 20 roll and we were even until about 45 and then i preceded to put 2-3 cars on him until i decided to shut it down, I was surprised how fast i pulled on him(maybe he was a bad driver) but we did this about 2 more times with the same results. I love my car

my car: 01 TA, A4, 3:23 gears, lid, cutout

his car: 10 GT, 5 speed, exhaust?

Without a tune, those cars are usually mid-high 13s. Not surprised you beat him with your mods.

Nice kill.

I bet 2010 mustang owners are feeling worse then 2004 GTO owners did when the 6.0 came out in 05. (when bought brand new)

If they just waited those few months...

It's funny you say that, a member on Corral said Ford should send out a prescription for Xanax to all the people who bought 2010 GT's.

Good kill, 93ssp, 3v's aren't that bad and respond to mods well, NPI 2v's were ******* snails.

They don't trap worth a **** do they? Sounds like all low end, still good times.

Most of the guy's around here with 3v's have exhaust and thats it, so I've yet to see one impressive.

Traps suck nothing like the cobra (124) It sure is fun light to light. I get my *** handed to me by many from a roll. 60ft was 1.69 with slicks and 5k dump. They are all fun if you ask me. I just like cars period.

WHere I work there are some heavily modded 4.6s. I raced a co worker with an 09 with gears, longtubes, no cats, flowmasters, tune, pulleys, cai and a tb and I whupped him in my 01z28 that had a k&n and a corsa cat back. I rubbed it in his face for a LONG time that the stangs were so slow. It's just sad that a 2010 is slower than a 98 ls1. thats 12 years of still not surpassing the ls1. Different story with the 5L though. I almost bought one, and may do so when it finally gets Direct injection in a year or two. Should be 440 hp give or take.

In all fairness, a geared/bolt-on/tuned '09 should be a mid-12s car with any sort of driver. There are members here with automatic S197 GTs with one or two bolt-ons and a tune running LOW 13s. That's pretty real world. So while you might still have beaten him, it shouldn't have been a "whuppin" at all.

It's also sad that a 2010 Camaro with the LS3 has to fight tooth and nail to keep up with an LS1 F-body.

Don't ever buy a Mustang, there are enough tools that drive them already.

Still can't hold a candle to the GM crowd, though, in that respect.

I got to drive a new 5.0 auto and it was pretty fun. Haven't got to race one yet tho. Just got home tho. on the way home raced a Mustang GT. I think it was an 07 or 08. had exhaust. raced from a dig at the stop light and after the take off, I spun just a bit and as soon as I caught traction I instantly started pulling on him. I let off at around 60 and waited for him at the next red light and gave him a thumbs up. he had tint and I couldn't see him. he didn't bother rolling the window down and doing the same. its the 3rd S197 GT I have raced and I've pulled each one of them. the first two, the only mods I had was a catback magnaflow and an air lid w/ K&N. and one of those I was talking on the cell phone, shifting gears AND putting instant car lengths on him. He had some kind of special package vinals on his car and he didn't seem to happy so he instantly pulled down a side street when he realized he wasn't going to catch up.

the 5.0's ARE nice tho. I want to race one bad!

Yup my son's 4:10 geared, headers, exhaust, cams, full bolt on, dyno tuned 07 GT runs 12's. But I'll admit he just got a nitrous setup so he can keep up with the Jones.
