Default 4runner vs. Mustang???

Ok so on the way home tonight me and the gf are riding in the 2005 4runner. Get caught at a light next to a silver v6 mustang with exhaust. I looked at and the car and he saw me look. When the light turned green he pulled away pretty hard, figured I'd play. Pull up to the rear of his door and he hits it, I step on it and pull back up to where we are pretty even, I put 2 cars on him and let off. He pulled behind me and would not get next to me again. Even if I changed lanes he got behind me. I guess the hula girl on the dash and the margaritaville lisence plate frame made him feel bad.

Haha. That's tight. 4runners are slow. But v6 stangs are slower. When I drive my moms van at times I love eating up rice. I also drove a newer highlander hybrid and I was really suprised how well it pulls.

I would rather ride the bus than own a V6 Mustang, let alone race anyone; 2011 V6 included.

^I'm sure it wasn't the new v6. Probably the boat anchor 4.0

LOL if picking on 99-04 mustang gt is puppy kicking then then the v6 is definitely baby seal clubbing!

Yeah, a 5spd coupe 99-04 V6 is low-mid 15s on a better-than-average day... really if your timeslip is 15.xx that would be a good time for a stock one.

I think he's saying it's just lame to go with any V6 when there's a V8 option, particularly when talking about a sports or pony car.
I'd have to agree...

There are always exceptions. GN, TTA, sy/ty (dont think they came with the v8 option)

They didn't offer a V8 in the GN, syclone or typhoon.

edit.. they did in the Buick Regal but not the actually GN's.

WTF do you think?

My point was that it's lame to pick the weakest base model over a much better trim.
One such example would be buying a 3800 camaro RS over a Z28 in 1999.
Of course something as bad *** as the TTA and GN (or GNX) are an exception as they were the top of the line trim available.
I didn't know I had to spell that **** out.
My bad.

Some other cars that fit the exception: Thunderbird supercoupe (and turbocoupe), Mustang SVO, etc.

SCENARIO TIME!

It's 1999.

Guy 1- University student riding on a scholarship. Working two part-time jobs to make bills and eat. Has the choice between a new '99 Z28 or RS. Commutes a lot, will accumulate mild mileage, parts will break as said mileage piles up. Wouldn't the RS be a smarter option for Guy 1? An RS will be cheaper to maintain at all times, plus be a little easier on gas.

Guy 2 - Hot shot just out of high school. Can have either a brand new '99 Z28 or Camaro RS. No real priorities, friends to impress, etc., etc., etc.

Gotta see it more ways than one bud.

Well, "bud," realistically, Guy 1 and Guy 2 shouldn't buy a camaro at all.
Guy 1 should buy a cheap econo-box.

I don't even understand where the third degree is coming from.
I was just trying to explain/simplify ANOTHER PERSON'S POST.
Reading comprehension: it's a bitch, isn't it?

LS1s consistently see better mileage than their V6 counterparts. In fact, as far as your scenario is concerned, a 6 speed Z28 would be right up Guy 1's alley. Also, I would be willing to bet a lot of parts are cheaper, seeing as the major things (engine/tranny) can all come from other stuff in the GM family.

Just some info...

The 3.8 is in even more things than the LS1... especially back in '99. Just sayin.

Nobody should ever buy a Corsica. Ever.
