Default 2011 M3 vs 01 Camaro Z28

Raced against a 2011 M3 Convertible with the DSG Tranny. The car shifts blazin quick and figured i would be f*cked as soon as i was gonna shift into the next gear. We raced from about 55mph to about 117-118mph. I was shocked i was able to pull on him, first run i let him go first since i cant hear his honks or his motor which was a mistake, didnt know when he went WOT and i went late. The other run since again i cant hear the horn i downshifted and tapped the throttle a bit and had a slight jump and he went WOT. Both races came out to be the same

Those m3's are really fun to drive. The best pairing of handling, power and comfort I've ever driven. They aren't the most powerful or fastest in a straight line but thy sure a hell are worth te money IMO. Good runs, but who run and by how many lenths?.

The Convertible weighs 4150, so it's quite the pig.

I wonder if the dsg is quicker than a 6 speed. either way, m3 are quick. the old 3.2 6's say a faster 0-60 time than ls1 f bodys so to be with a newer v-8 model is really cool. also though, those cars already have the best everything from the factory (intake and exhaust manifold, exhaust, tuning in sport mode, etc

DCT is quicker from a roll, no question. The instant shifts and excellent 7 speed ratios more than make up for the slight weight disadvantage of the DCT tranny. DCT cars always trap higher than 6 speed cars, and the difference in a roll race is significant.

I have to admit driving the car i was shocked as to how quick it shifts and the downshifts are even more amazing. I really thought he would beat me since ive driven and been a passenger in a few of these cars and feel they pull really well top end. Either way its a really nice looking car, no doubt.

It would have been a great race if he didn't have a convertible.

Ditto, I had a 2002 I bought for my girlfriend, and it was a BLAST to drive. They are excellent all around sports/luxury cars. Sounds right though that you outrun him a drag race. There's a turbo one around here that gives my C6 a run with my nitrous

This first vid he got the jump for a bit and then i finally went like i said i cant hear him go since my car is too loud and we tried honking but i couldnt hear that either.

This second race i went a bit early for the same reasons but had about the same outcome.

i always considered 1 length to mean his nose right on your tail. but it looked like you had between a 1/2 to a whole length between you at the end of the race. so I'd say you won by 1.5-2 lengths.

I always wonder how people judge lengths. Some do it like you, and some start counting 1 as 1 in between bumpers.

well, the reason i view it the way i do is because, if your dead even, nose to nose, that is 0 lengths, so if you can put someone at your rear bumper, then you have pulled one car-length. but i do know what your saying, i have debated it with friends before.

I tend to measure it your way as well. I like to say "on my bumper" rather "1 length" just so people don't think I was making it sound worse than it was.
