Default 02 z28 vs challenger srt8

Ahhh! my first race post on here! finally...

So coming home the other night i encountered a blk challenger rolling pretty fast. thought to myself that the next 4 miles were straight roads with a few stop lights so this is as good a chance as im gonna get to line up or roll. im already feeling pretty anxious since cars like these are in my class.

i pull up next to him (we both had no passengers) and notice that "challenger srt8" is written along the side under the door from front wheel to back. Guess that means this is one? it looked like something the factory would do as a dress up option.

anyway he didnt seem to want to run. then we hit a light. yessssss! so we sit there and give it a foot brake rev. enough to shake muh ride a lil. he does nothing. light goes green and i give it some gas. he does to but i dont think it was wot so i let off after first (50ish) with half a car. WTF? that was perfect why didnt he go?

Hit another light. same drill i give it a rev. he does nothing. i said screw it im gonna punk his as in front of all these innocent bystanders behind us then. goes green and whaddya know he gets on it a split second b4 me but i give chase. hes ahead of me half a car and the reel in begins. by top of second (95ish) im pullin past him by a half car. shut it down bout 110 and had him by 3/4 car but still pulling decent. I figured with my mods and his weight that we would be even but didnt think i would pull as smooth as i did.

Im ssra, lid, ptb, full exhaust, diablo canned tune w/2.73s and we were both auto

Doesn't it suck when someone with a nice equally fast car ignores you at the light as if you're not worth racing and then they unexpectedly floor it when you're not looking.Usually followed by a "see I'm better than you "type of look. Then you floor it and pass them, they get angry and take the next exit stage left!haha.Good kill.

Nice kill, man! Sounds like a nice setup you have on there. Any plans to ditch the 2.73's?

Nice kill. The big decal on the side of his car is ghey.

He did fairly well considering your mods but how much quicker would you be with the 3.23 final drive?

Nice kill. I'm actually surprised that you didn't pull on him a bit more. Those things are heavy as hell. Like 4,200 lbs or something. Maybe he had a few mods himself though.

Good kill.

I've never gotten a good run with one before, always jumping. 2 runs with an SR8 Challenger, 1st time the guy totally failed at launching, next time he pulled some ricer **** and took off on me. SRT8 Charger I hung with dead nutz bone stock...300 SRT8 I reeled in even though he kept jumping. They make tons of power, but those cows just can't get past their beefy bodies.

I always seem to taunt the srt 8 guy's charger or challenger and they never take the bait!I always end up lookin like a ***** trying to instigate but oh well....that's life.Closest thing to a race with those I got I pulled up next to a srt8 jeep at a red light.completely ignored me,he stayed off the gas and then punched it when the light turned after I already gave up on him ,f..ker.!This also happened to me with a subaru turbo legacy sneaky bastards! Not every body knows proper race etiquette.

I ran an auto 09 SRT-8 challenger at the local stop light drags a couple summers ago. With my old cammed/bolt-on GTP, and i put 2 or 3 lengths on him in the 1/8th mile. I could tell he was starting to creep back on me though by the end of the race. What do those cars normally trap?

it sounded pretty good when floored but i think all hemis have a characteristic sound to them. yeah that little jump limited the amount of pull i could have had. if i kept it floored till 130ish im sure it would have been 1 1/2 cars ahead. they look damn heavy. the mid section of those looks like a brick between the wheels

If you're going to choose out of the 2, get the 3:42's, not much of a difference from 2:73 to 3:23.

I still think it's funny anything stock with srt8 badges runs the same at the track.

They are fun cars though and sound amazing even stock.

Owned two LT-1 fbodies both a4s one 2.73 and one 3.23. The 3.23 car was about 2 tenths of a second quicker in the quarter when both were bone stock. They both dead hooked and the 2.73 car would still pull 1.9 60' times. The 2.73 gears are pretty mean at a 70mph punch.
