5th gear in the GT is 1:1 like the T56's 4th. That GT was modded too.

Older guy with his daughter in the car driving a pretty new 6spd car... not surprised at all. It really takes going to the track to get your launches and shift points down, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he'd never taken his car. Good runs

U make no sence here. I've never taken my car to the track and I don't practice my shift points since I rev up to 6100 and shift.

You've also had your car for quite some time, IIRC. All I'm saying is that you can't expect every guy you run on the street to be completely on his game. That has nothing to do with your race, it's more in response to the people saying, "Well I guess the 5.0s aren't all they're cracked up to be blah blah blah."

There is a big difference between "excuses," and "reasons." Hence why I said I wasn't surprised, and told him "good runs."

My brother drove a 96 cobra for 3 years and when he got his 2011 GT he drove it like hes never driven a stick before. I hopped in a drove it perfect cause im used to the hydraulic clutches since the V has one. The 2011 takes some time to get used to though especially since there silent from the factory lol.

was just saying for people to say he cant drive since he was old is dumb, plus it dont take long to learn a car. it could very well be that the guy couldn't drive though. the 5.0 do run good, most impressive mustang ever IMO

Not knocking the new GT by any means. It is a far cry from the previous GTs..no doubt about that! However, all the hype that followed it from the very begining is causing people to be very critical of it, especially when they loose street races to cars with less Hp and Torque or run low to mid 13's in the 1/4 at a track. (which I have personally seen)

I have seen plenty of races posted on Youtube or other forums and there have been some unexplained situation (in my mind) where the GT making 365+ Hp to the wheels is losing to cars with about 40 less Hp. Can we say that they are all driver error? I agree in many cases you can say that but after a while that story gets old and sounds like ricer excuses.

Just being real here! If the new GT wants to talk the "talk" it better start to walk the "walk".

Agreed, but cars don't drive themselves.

You'd see it a lot more for F-bodies/Corvettes, except few people post their own losses it seems. Obviously if the cars have been as quick as 12.3 stock and as fast as 115mph, there are people out there that can drive them to their potential. But of course, anything can happen on the street.

The street is an entirely different game especially when you think about what a few tenths of a second will do on the outcome of a race. You aren't going to get two cars to leave at the exact same time when the 3-honk bs on the street so its always possible to get "walked".
My car on a 11.97 pass lost to a car at the track that ran a 12.2x just due to getting tree'd as I obviously wasn't worried about what he ran or me cutting a good light at that time.

Is my car faster overall--yes it was, but I simply lost the race.

I just think their real short gears kill the speed and can't keep up with the cars that rev longer in the power band. Like when I was still in 1st the guy was already shifting to second and loosing speed, while I was still gaining.

Well said. Its a shame so few people seem to understand that.

I guess its the same reason why everyone has heart attacks when an LT1 pulls on an LS car.

Even though anything can happen, especially on the street, the new 5.0 is not to be taken lightly, period. Having neither engine and coming from a third perspective I would be more worried running into a 5.0 then an LS1 f-body or GTO . They are going crazy fast with hardly any mods at all.
