Chevelle/ cobra rematch and saw a cammed ZR1 run a fox Made some trips out of the states for the weekend. Buddy in the white cobra (ported blower, pulley, exhaust, tune, etc) wanted to play again now that he has a working limited slip. Unfortuneately I had been too lazy earlier to put on the drag radials but I figured "what the hell"
We lined up with a flagger, he got the jump on me and we both started struggling for traction. He was on some almost bald Nitto DRs. He got about a car out before I finally got it to somewhat hook.
I think he was hazing his tires still because I stopped his pull until he grabbed third, then he started running like a freight train...slow pull at first then steamrolling away from me. Ended up getting out on me at least 3-4 cars and pulling before I let out.
The real show was a cammed (don't know what else) ZR1 who ran a nice foxbody with a decent 351 on nitrous. Poor ZR1 was smoking the tires and on and off the rev limit through the 1/8th running door to door with the fox then finally missed a gear and just gave up. Fox wouldn't run again...hopefully next weekend they line up a rematch. I'd like to see a better run.
Federales rolled in and bullshitted for a while, they were cool as hell though. Eventually they just rolled out without harrassing anyone about anything.
Overall it was a pretty good night. Going to need to start putting my camera in the car though.

Got some more info on the fox.
Last night we put on some fresh M/T 275/60 on the Cobra and he raced the black fox. It's a 351 with ~12.5:1 compression, ported aluminum heads, large cam, and running race gas. Has a supposed 175hp shot on it too.
Out of the hole he caught better than the cobra, got out 2 cars by the time the cobra caught and hit 2nd gear. They held even until ~90 when the cobra went around him hard.
Fox said he knocked it into neutral. From where I was it looked like he hit his brakes early when he saw he was going to get passed then put it in neutral and revved.
The fox and his friends keep insisting my car can't run better than high 12s "because that motor runs 13.0 in a fbody, not way he picked up 8 tenths or more in a 4000lb car". Jackasses. Apparently my 12.24 time slip and witnesses aren't good enough either...

Yeah, he has been telling people all week the cobra is a 12.5-12.9 car and his fox runs 11.3 ON MOTOR so it wouldn't even be a race.
Yet his *** was about to get handed to him on spray if they ran the whole 1/4, that damn cobra pulls like crazy from 3rd up (since it actually hooks 100% from there). I'm trying to get him to go to the track with us though to shut him up.
He did remind me my g/f took a video of my 12.24 pass I never got around to pulling from her phone so I'm going to do that and post it up on the local forum and here. Not sure if she recorded the light board so hopefully the announcer said something about it.
If not **** him, with some tweaks my next track trip should include some 11.90s for him to chew on.

I don't question the engines abilities, but the point was he was claiming to run that fast on motor and then was about to get drug (while spraying) by a car he spouted wouldn't break mid 12s or better.
