Raced a new 2011 CTS-V in my 03 Z06.
Was on the way to the beach this weekend in Mexico and i pull up next to him (White color) at a red light. One other car on a 3 lane (6 lane total) highway. I glance over and its a guy in his mid 30's and I can tell he wanted to go. Light turns green and we both get on it. He gets me off the line by half a car length. I shift into second and I close the half car length gap. We are neck and neck through second and third. I hit 4th and thats when i slowly inch away ending it at about 120mph with half a car length on him. My car puts out 382rwhp. Just bolt ons and a tune. I know i have 500+lbs on him, but i was for sure thought i was going to get beat. I was amazed i beat one of those CTS-V's. I gave him a huge thumbs up as so did he and we parted our ways.
Just thought I'd share my experience with these new SC 550HP CTS-V's.

You are correct. I looked up on wiki and the earlier models showed 3800lbs. So thats why I put 500+lbs. Didn't want to be wrong about it. But yes they weigh in around 4200lbs.

Dear lord! I would rather have my car at 3100lbs!!! c5Z06 for the win! i was headers only for a while and beat up on a lot of fast cars! Nice kill to the op just don't run into any modded V's. They can be pretty mean!

yeah @ 3100lbs a older low powered car can keep up with some of todays high end cars. but you gotta give credit to todays build quality, it really is top notch compared to what was available even a half dozen years ago!

thats what mods are for! I just bought a bunch its been fun piecing together my little build. I have thought about selling and getting a newer car. But i have to mod anything i have so i am sticking with my c5z06 instead of upgrading. For a almost 10 year old car they hold there own pretty good still!

Did the guy you run have a stick? The autos actually are faster off the line, but I still think the stick would be faster once you get going. My dad just bought a 09 Thunder gray M6 V, that lucky fella.

You know.....I wasn't paying any attention to that since we were neck and neck. But we kinda did a roll from the green light then we both started getting into it. He didnt get that big of a jump on me though from what i remember. I would def get one of those cars one day in my life.
