Default 94 H/C/I cobra vs 2002 ws6

I usually never race my car but for some reason i felt like shutting someone down after all it was my birthday so me and the girlfriend are cruising and all of the sudden i see a very clean cobra pul on to the road ahead of me, she was drooling because shes a mustang girl (where did i go wrong) so i decided this should be a easy win, show her that my car is faster and im the hero!!!...that is not what happened. i ease past him and thro a rev to see if he bites, and he does immediately, he speeds up beside me and does the three honks pretty much as he is rolling by and punches it! his car sounded amazing btw, meanwhile i was cruising in third and quickly downshifted to second but he was already a car and a half in front. i stopped his pull and began reeling him slowly, (to slowly i thought), then our good friend traffic stops us. he gives the thumbs up and makes a turn. so my girlfriend is laughing because she just saw me get beat by a mustang, but i was praying to god it wasn't stock.....i was kinda depressed after that result and wondered why i had lost since a stock cobra has like 240 hp,
well later on that night while driving home guess who pulls up beside me. redemption came uh nockin we were stopped by a light so i asked what he had done he responds..."ALOT" thats all i needed to know, the light turned green while we were talking so we cruised up to about 40 (i believe) im at 3k on the tac in second we knod and he honks it off and i get a good jump and he is right by my door until i shift to third and pull a car on him we shut it down and i flag him to pull over and talk. he said he was actually a big GM fan but got a good deal on the cobra and put almost 12 grand in it including heads, cam, intake, exhause, street radials, 3.73 gears (i think), a whole bunch of suspension upgrades and much more he then ask what all i had done i said well i got a lid and magna flow and thats about it, then the two friends riden with him began giving him **** about how he talked crap on the ls1 engine and then just lost to a pretty much stock one all in all a good birthday felt good about my car and got back the respect of my girlfriend

Nice death. I hate racing when I have more than one person in the car, if I barely lose, I always wonder what if. I wouldn't call H/C/I built, when I see built (in all caps especially) I think dart/world block at the least, and usually some internals.

Glad you had fun! Your girlfriend has good taste

My Integra needs a paint job so just for ***** and giggles I called Acura. Their prices for a paint job START at $4,000 and go up.

Guy should have used some of that $12k to drop an LSx into the stang Good kill, that's the typical 5.0 for you.

I can't get over the 12k either. I pray that was including cost of car. I bought my car at a steal from a guy who was moving to the Dominican Republic for $4350 with the heads on it already. Ouch.

Technically, that older 5.0 can be built to a 306ci and made to run pretty strong with the right combination of parts. If he spent that much money (minus the paint) I would hope that he would have went with a 331 or 347ci motor...regardless, I have seen some nasty-*** 306 motors run really strong.

Oh..BTW...your car looks awesome. Like the color combination of white with the blue!

To make a 302 a 306 is not worth the time/effort/money at all. A stout H/C/I on a 302 will be the same, for the 4 more cubic inches and price, I can think of a lot more I would rather do.

Main advantage of 306 over 302 is ptv clearance, not cubes.

The majority of my buddies use to mod these older 5.0's, mostly 306's and one or two H/C/I 347's. The street driven 347's had their hands full with full bolt on LS1's. I like seeing clean ones on the road these days.
