Default Fun with a new 5.0 Mustang

Going home yesterday, a new black 5.0 Mustang pulled along side of me and goosed it a few times, and came back beside me. I went ahead and nailed it and so did he, and by 100 I had him by 1.5 car lengths, but we were coming up on some cars pretty fast so I slowed down. I did get the jump on him, but he was unable to pull me in. I do like the new Mustangs, and the new 5.0s are suppose to be pretty fast. Glad I was able to keep in front of this new 5.0 for a bit.

Nice run. It's tough to stop a pull and makeup distance when you give the jump to someone in a similarly fast car.

Nice, think he was stock? You're trap speed seems low for all the work you've had done, no?

if that trap is a current one, i can see killing a stock GT or having too large a jump.

props for the kill OP. all you need is a 3-5 mph jump and a stock gt will not reel you in.

that's a good kill for the op. with that 1.69 60' you can get a nice jump on people from a slow roll or stop but you aren't pulling one from a 50 roll with that converter unless he's REALLY asleep. your mph says it all (ask me how i know lol).

Why you get the jump, you scared? signal him on 3 we go, its easy just trow up 3 fingers then start to honk 3x. It would have been a good race if you both got a even start. I will call this one a tie so

GOOD DRAW

A tie? How? He jumped and hold off a new 5.0 so i would call it not a race at all more like a chase no?

Actually, my trap speed is where is should be people tell me. The valve covers have never been off the motor, and with 175K currently on the clock, doing 110 trap speed is pretty good I think with my current converter and 3.73 gears. Racing from a roll isn't usually my forte either. I'm better set up for off the line.

Probably did. I expected him to catch me, and if traffic wasn't coming up he might have. Those new 5.0s are no joke for sure.

They were lined up and he took the hit, they didn't hook it off. If he was infront and the other car behind him then it would have been a chase but they were next to each other, so it was a race in my book.

Good kill OP. These new 5.0s are dangerous with the right driver mod. Seen one stock down to the paper filter run 12.90s in 70 degree weather. I was pretty impressed to see a stock GT run those kinds of times

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this is how it went down

"Dude in camaro see's mustang as it drives past minding his own business, camaro dude attempts to egg on mustang, camaro dude then doesn't even bother honking three times and punches it jumping out a car and a half before the mustang even realizes the jackass is trying to race, mustang then hits it and immediatly starts to pull back even, camaro dude see's that he is about to be embarrassed and slams on the brakes before giving the mustang the chance to go through a full gear."

Sounds like fun OP!

Some of you guys are retarded. He obviously wasn't in here bragging about how he smoked a new 5.0 and talking **** about them being slow. While it is the most fun to have a nice set up, 3 honk race, sometimes it's fun to just screw around like that. Lighten up, some of you.

I gave up on trying that when not racing with a group. "Why the hell is he honking?" lol

If you're going out on a limb to describe what happened without even being there, you just fell out of the tree. As I said before in my quote, he egged me on first. Yes, we didn't do the three honk thing, and things might have been different if we did. I even mentioned that he may have beat me too, and to be honest, I was expecting him to pull on me. I do like the 5.0s alot, and Ford got this one right, so if you're gonna slam someone, get the facts right first. You weren't there, I was.
