I remember the Mach1 vs. LS1 full bolt-ons races, the Mach1's got left behind when they had to pay extensive labor(drop the k-member) to swap in some long tubes headers to make 310rwhp while the LS1's where making 360rwhp with similar mods. I'll admit a Mach1 w/ a Borla exhaust (no cats) is the best sounding V8 I have ever heard!!!!
The Mach1 owners ended up giving up and buying Termis.

Ok, then I will amend my statement; Ford made mod motors with better/stronger parts from the factory than GM makes most of their LSx engines. You can say that doesn't matter, but you can't really say your GM/Ford/Honda/Toyota/Yugo engine is so great when the block/heads/internals have been replaced with aftermarket parts. GM's LSx DESIGN is better, I'm not trying to argue that, but it's hard to argue that Ford didn't use better factory parts with the modular motors.
