Default My lil 402 vs a legend ! Dodge Coronet 440 !

Well sorry for the tease, it was a half *** race. The old dude was quite impressed with his car and on his way to a car show so he was reluctant to get the car dirty. Cmon pops loosen up the tighty whiteys. Anyways I egged him on for a bit and to my surprise the old man came out of the hole like a rocket. He's got a quick 4 cars on me and quickly shuts it down. I ask him to try it one more time and he agrees. We catch a light and it goes green. We both nail it. Too bad for me my DR's are in the basement cuz my PS2s dont hold a launch for **** but I think my Reaction time helped. He gets about 2 cars on me. As I hit 2nd Im even, grab 3rd Im walking away and 4th gear Im sprinting away so I shut her down and let the old man and his 4000 lb beast catch up. He was a class act and gave me a big thumbs up and a nod. I returned the gesture and we continued our fun til our paths split. Nice guy with a beautiful car, just needed a little coaxing out of his shell.

Thanks, haven't been on much due to having nothing to post. LOL. Should have some interesting a-b intake info coming soon. Also a couple high speed videos are in planning.
Sorry no pics. I am in process of picking out a new digi cam. Sony has a sweet 1080p HD cam with capability to take 18.2 mp photos. Talk about poster size prints if needed. Will have to start taking a camera with me now that the weather is turning nicer. Now if I could just get my 93 and 99 gran prix's to run problem free. LOL

Nice run, man. That car was no match for you though. They were the **** in its day though.

Coronets are nice cars. When I was 17, I had a 69 SuperBee but with only a 383ci motor. I love the Coronet body style. They made a Coronet 400, 500, R/T and SuperBee. My father bought it brand new in October of 1968. I ended up driving this in High School until I could afford to buy a car. I must say this car did very well against the new cars of that time..mid to late 80's. However, once the Buick Regal 3.8 Turbo, 5.0 and IROCs (350ci) came out, it was all over. The ole Bee just fell behind. I restored the SuperBee but sold it and bought a brand new 2001 Camaro Z28, LS1, in Blue Metalic. Never looked back to old muscle after the Z.

editor/writer of a couple performance magazines we all read has a 440 coronet. he showed up with it one day at a shoot and after everyone ran their mid low 11 second zr1's, GTR's etc. he pulls up, street tires and lays down a 10.90 at like 100 because he let off 3/4 way down the track and we were like wtf just happened lol? you'd never know it by looking at it, sounds healthy but not super-cammed, just snotty.

Wow !! That is an impressive story. Talk about a ball breaker to everyone at the track in the article you mentioned. LOL. Maybe the old man let me win, who knows?
