Yea thats my plan. It feels like an accomplishment when you get everything out of a combo. When i'm done I plan on going from 12.2 to 11.1-11.2 without adding any power.

Well, I decided to get started yesterday, diggin into the Z28 to start assessing the damage.
The damage is worse than I hoped, with almost every valve being bent and every piston having marks. Hopefully I don't have to start digging into the bottom end, but it's not looking great so far.
Also, I found out something else I'm not too happy about. When I had the heads put on I specified Trickflow 215's and here is my invoice from the shop that did the work:

First off nice runs!!! Car really moves out. I mean its too late now but running a single chain on that type of setup is just on borrowed time. YIKES!!! looks like you may have kissed all your pistons. Hopefully it doesnt get any worse. I would DEF be giving Trick Flow a call!

Did the pistons make it out alive, or is it time to forge the bottom end and bump up the spray?
Also, you should think about replacing all the valve guides when you have the new valves installed, just to make sure none of them cracked or were otherwise damaged when the pistons hit. If you need a machine shop, Dave @ Edgar Machine in Ware, MA does awesome work at a reasonable price. It's a 2 hour drive for me, and i don't go anywhere else.

I've decided not to risk it and to just do the motor. It was pretty much the next step in the evolution of the car anyway, and I've been looking for an excuse to mod the G8 a bit. I'm going to pull the Camaro from the road and play with the G8 for the year and see if I can get the Camaro revamped over the winter.
