In the 1/4 there is about a .2 difference In et. The mustang has more aggressive gearing than an ls1.
We are talking neck and neck until around 80 where the ls1 puppy about 1/2-3/4 car by the 1/4. Shift 150-200rpms early or hit the limiter, spin or bog just a tad and the mustang is going to out et the ls1 and depending on what happened maybe match the trap.
Same goes for a mach1.

If you wanna throw the whole "drivers race" crap into mix then the LS1 has a significant advantage in that area as well. With the Cobras IRS it is extremely difficult to launch that car in stock trim trust me. Guys were lucky if they pulled anything short of a 2.2 60' in those cars. The advantage goes heavily in favor of the SRA F-body, compare average 60's for both if you want to. So the whole drivers race thing doesn't hold its weight in this discussion. Besides, .3/3mph by the end of the 1/4 mile is not exactly close in my opinion. With two half decent drivers the LS1 will win everytime.

Iruneleven's....go run your mustang. let us know how you did, if it's stock you'll quickly be changeing your name to Irun14's....lol And that's if it's a 5speed and you can drive a little. If it's a auto you could have yourself a 15sec ride. I typically resort to raceing any stock mustang (except cobra's and new 5.0)to in my 2500hd. From a 25-35 mph roll I can give them fits.

I can't count how many lid and catback ls1 m6 cars I have seen run low 9s in the 1/8.
Yes both having half decent drivers the ls1 will win without a doubt everytime, zero question about it.
Witha a 3/4 decent driver in the mustang and a 1/4 good driver in the ls1 it gets walked everytime. Or the half event driver bogs or spins a tad or shifts a tad early.
I'm not sure why you guys are arguing with me.. or stating the ls1 is faster?? Are you guys still stuck thinking that they are more than .3 and 3 mph difference?
That difference is about 1 car length in the 1/4, half in the 1/8. Not anything to go ape **** about.

Because I've never had one stay that close to me. The pre boosted cobra's typically did'nt run what the rag mags said...ford was pretty notourius for sending out ringers back then. From my track experiance most people were .5 off what the mag said in those cobra's...same goes for 2v and 3v cars.

A 6M LS1 is going to be 3 car lengths ahead by the end of the quarter mile. That's a pretty good margin. I could see if they both averaged identical high 13 sec ETs or we're within a tenth of each other. That's a true drivers race IMO when its that close. Because one driver can't drive worth a crap makes it a drivers race? I don't think so. With all things equal the 6M LS1 faster by the end of the quarter, and by a solid margin. Even you said after 90 it gets ugly, and if my memory serves correct both cars trap in the triple digits. This is a senseless argument really. Go ask the honest non brand loyal racers on the Mustang boards and they'll tell you first hand which car is clearly faster.

Couple of things about the Evan Smith runs for those who get depressed looking at them
He is a very small guy(ie weighs next to nothing)
When that mag and MMFF do/did runs at Etown they prep the living **** out of it. Your damn shoe would come off walking over the pad.

If we want to play that game someone needs to ignore the DA let me have an "11 sec club" title. Real world and the racer's math world aren't the same.
I have never and likely never will see a bone stock (street tires) 2v GT in the 13s in OK, AR, MO, or northern TX.

I hope youre talking like low 9's in the 1/8th are shitty for that car i.e: horrible driver, spinning, running with one dead spark plug, etc.... My pos 305 third gen would run 9.0's all day long on street tires with a 2.3 60 foot and my stock SS has NEVER run anything slower than an 8.50 in the 1/8th.
