Default Raced My friends 05 GT/CS mustang again

Ok so my friend in his 05 GT/CS Mustang and my 99 SS Camaro raided a Honda street race grudge match. After being bored and asked if my car was fast and having to reply "V8 pal" we decided to leave and go have some fun.

i posted a race a few weeks ago, so this was a rematch.

2005 Gt/CS Mustang mods: Cold Air Intake, Exhaust, tires 20% tread.
1999 SS Camaro mods: Slp Air Box Lid, magnaflow cat back exhaust, K&N air filter, Hurst Short Throw Shifter.

because of his tire tread I let him get the launch. id catch up and we would be neck and neck every time. Id get maybe a nose on him and there we would stay.
Now i know given his skill at launching he could launch damn hard on good tires so this helped even the playing field because im not as skilled at launching. i launch at 2600rpms to minimize tire spin at the line.

So I want every ones intake on this nearly dead even race. Now i know about the LS6 manifold not being on my car, but I wonder im losing power because of old plugs possibly or if this is a typical result. Also any suggestion or advice are greatly appreciated.

Seems about right for both of your mods. When is last time you put new plugs and stuff in your car? Get some headers and a good tune and you will pull him.

Doesn't sound right to me. Either he's too good at driving his car, or you are too bad at driving yours, or there's something wrong with your car. My crappy old LT1 has smoking two 05 GTs on its resume already.

Not sure about LS1s but losing power from old sparks is very typical for LT1s. I re-gained a ton of power from replacing the spark plugs and wires. Car could barely move before it.

I so wish AmirGTR was closer to me. SO i could rape him in a race so bad he never would want to race again. And i would let my wife drive so then it be even worse cause she cant drive a manual.

Proper maintenance is something you should do on every car. Even if you fail on the launch, you should run away from a 3v up top, not hold even.

I havent changed the plugs yet since i got it. So i wouldnt doubt im losing power. and I would agree he is a better driver at launching, from a roll id say i have a edge on him.

Im planning on getting the LS6 intake maniflod this summer for my car and changing the plugs and wires. and spark plug suggestions? So those should give me a boost I hope...

Give your car a little TLC and then go put him in your rear view mirror.

Give her a tune up, get some more seat time, and try again!

I will say a GT/CS should not be that close of a race. I raced one and gave it the hit, managed to put around 2 cars on him without too much work. They are gorgeous cars though! Mine is just your basic Formula with a 2.73 gear out back, and some bolt on stuff tossed in.

You don't want to **** at your max. A little higher so when you do shift you don't drop so far down in the power band.

As far as launhc you will have to practice. See what your car likes. One guys car may be a little off then yours. Plus depends on what your tires will launch at as well. Did you have drag radials?

i would be about mid door then start pulling him in through first. As soon as he shifts into second im in front of him.
And im totally confused because i remember racing a Gt with CAI and exhaust last year maybe two years ago and i totally beat the **** out of him. I just did a oil change about 1000 miles ago with Mobile 1. Ive been meaning to change my coolant and my fuel filter badly. I also about a month ago got bad gas and had to run that water remover stuff.

I just feel like something isnt right with my car and wish i could get one of you guys to test drive it and give me your opinion.

i had the best luck shifting my stock 99 car around 55-5600. it lost 2-3 mph consistently shifting ~6k+. also something interesting...the car made it's best 1/8 mile pass to date on the (at the time) 11 year old, factory spark plugs.
