Default My Z06 beats a 2010+ GT500?!

On abandoned street In mexico, I bump into this New body style GT500, He starts giving it gas, pretty much telling me he wants to race, I thought I was gona get Raped, but was bored, So I pull up next to him, and he switches back into my lane after passing him a little, Why? I have no idea, We are both doing 70+mph.... I down shifted into 3rd gear, and waited til i could hear He down shifted to, once he did, I punched it, He kept up with me 'til the end of 4th gear, then I double clutched it ( It really doesn't give you any more power, I just did it for fun)into 5th, and thats when I started pulling away, once getting to the end of 5th, I looked back and he was bus lengths behind me, then He disappears, I wished he pulled up next to me again so I can find out if it was a clone, or a real GT500 but a terrible driver, My Z has: LT's, O/R x-pipe, stock mufflers, Halltech intake, and a short throw shifter. Is this possible? It kept me thinking the whole way back On how a beat a 540hp car, with around 450hp, a passenger, and a shitty tune??

I can see this thread going bad lol. The part where he got behind you is weird. I don't know what bolt-on c5 z06 cars run really? Im gonna guess you should be mid-high 11's with those mods. So you should be able to keep up with a 2010 and under gt500 pretty good, but def not bus lengths. Im gonna guess he thought he could come around you easily and when he realized he couldn't he let off and that explains how you put "bus lengths" on him.

Lol, Fixed it! Z06 with bolt on's like mine and a real good tune can make 400rwhp, but mine isn't making that much due to the tune, it's still confusing as hell tho, yea he could of passed me easily, thats if he was getting anywhere, but I was pulling on him until he apparently let off.

Nice kill OP, with those mods you are probably around 390 rwhp with that tune. A real good tune will most likely put you in 400 range.

I have an 02 z06 (also yellow) but it only has an intake for now (dynoed 360/357). It runs pretty smooth, but nothing neck breaking. I would beleive that a bolt on c5z can keep up with a new gt500... but i dont think it will put busses on it from any gear. But then again, i never raced one... Are you sure he didnt let off?

from my experience bolton C5 Z06's run low 12's at 112-114mph and dyno in the 370-380rwhp range. That's numbers from an average dyno and a normal track.

Not enough to take out a new GT500 I would have sworn.

I ran a stock Gt-500 and the higher the speed the more he fell behind, i make 491rwhp/428ft . By the time we hit 135 it wasn't even a race. they start out ok, but fade fast as the speeds climb.

You make more whp then a new one stock. That combined with your weight advantage i can see you pulling on him.

For the Op from what i figure he let out. If a 2011 he would have about 80-100whp advantage so higher you get the weight is a factor. I can see you pulling when get up in the triple digits. But not putting bus lengths on it. I think he may have let out.

Aren't the Mustangs limited to about 155 stock also? Topping 4th out in the vette would be just under 150. So about the time the OP shifted to 5th the stang, if stock, was running into the speed limiter.

Sounds to me like he stayed with you, he let out, and you kept going.

I double clutched it for fun once again, like mentioned above, at around 140, thats when I started leaving him behind, But it's really shocking for a car like that with a forged 5.4 to top out at 150, I am not impressed.

Mustangs aren't really top speed aero cars ....quarter mile is there strong suit, but a pulley swap, kennybell bowler and 700+rwhp later and it will run topspeed all day long, I haven't ran into one of them yet" just heard about them. Sounds like we got racers out there" that are not double clutching like they should" LOL

For the GT500 you can buy upgrade from Ford and keep warranty to get 700hp. Then even go higher and get Supersnake 800hp. All with a warranty.

For the 5.0 they have kits all way to 624hp.

If a bolt on z is only trapping 112-114 something is wrong. That is near bolt on ls1 speed.

A bolt on z should be in the 118+ range pretty easily.

Don't stock C5Z's sometimes trap in the 112-115 range?

I know the highest trapping stock one is over 115...

Most stock Zs trap a minimum of 112. I would say 112-115 would be "average".

Full bolt ons should be 117 minimum.
