Don't give our jobs away! Just kidding, I'm union and work on pipelines, we have more work than ever. But I agree the wages are better up North but I didn't see much of a difference for living, granted I'm talking about hotels.
Unions are no longer needed in the current world. And I am a UAW member too. But a member only because.... and you know it too... if you are non-union, they don't represent you... when needed, in the same "manner".
I want to bounce an idea off you guys, I'd like some feedback. Here locally we have a dying racing/car scene. We get kicked out of nearly every meet spot and our local drag strip is out of touch with the 16-25 group. I'm working on putting together a program that would run on a week night. Test and tune from 6-9 and eliminations from 930-1030 ish. Pretty similar to some other weeknight events at other tracks. 8.50 index, 7.50 index, bike class heads up, king of the streets style class heads up and maybe a heads up diesel class, cash payouts for all classes. DJ, cheap beer and an 1/8th mile foot race for $100. My goal is to make this a solid weekly car meet, and to get more people involved in drag racing. Any feedback or suggestions?

Unfortunately this is a dying genre. Kids are into stance and cosmetics so getting the interest of young adults is going to be a challenge

This is done locally here with the import guys. Some times us v8 guys go out just for fun. But its a bunch slow cars really.
Another guy started this in tx. Then he was pushed out cause people seen money in it.

I know I can get 300+ people a week. I'm looking for ideas to bring in the spectators really. There's two events within 5 hours of here that draw 2-3k people a week. I guess you all don't have anything similar?

The guy in tx had 200-300 people showing up to his drag/roll race events and it was growing. Thats why he got pushed out. Greed took over.
now he does autox events that draw 500 cars plus lots of watchers.

100.00??? I've passed on private rentals at 40-50... I wouldn't expect a good turnout once you go above 50.00. Just my take on it... Desposible income isn't the same for everyone though.
I misunderstood what you were saying. That's actually perfect IMHO
