it's not so much the cost-- the old days of cheap headers with paper thin black piping and 1\4' flanges turned a lot of people off. all they did was crack and leak.

Honestly I would rather do a HC swap then headers on an LT1. Mine were a huge PITA, but I didn't do motor mounts with them off like I should have so they fit like ****.

Heads are cake to pull, intake is dry, and cam slides right in with the rad out.

With 1.7s be careful with your cam choice later on. They essentially make the ramp rate more aggressive so a cam spec'd with 1.6s in mind like most grinds will need more spring then it recommends.

The hooker super comps I put on my LT1 were no where near as bad as everyone cries about lol

what I meant was the cheap headers we used to get back in the day were junk and almost impossible to keep from leaking. made a lot of people shy away from headers.

but then again the word was he "wanted to save bottom end torque". so I dunno

I'm just stating putting headers on an LT1 is not THAT hard...

Mine does exactly the same thing! Gotta love it.

LT1 headers are a pain if you cant get the nose up high enough, cause the LTs have to go in through the bottom.

I did mine with rear tires on blocks and the front about 5 feet in the air

If you have a lift or hoist, and do the motor mounts at the same time headers would be a fast job. I bet I could have a set of pacesetters in with a lift in a couple hours. Only thing I had to clearance was the steering knuckle.

I had a buddy do my headers and I gave in a helping hand here and there with holding stuff up and whatnot. We tried to switch motor mounts but for some reason they were a PITA too and didn't want to give so I just kept the stock motor mounts and sold the new ones.

It wasn't exactly easy... A few local shop guys refuse to do headers on LT1 cars

Yeah, we had to jack mine up as high as we could in my parent's garage. When I get a house of my own, my garage will definitely have a small lift for convenience

On another note, here is my latest FB status:

"Gotta love that 364 days a year people are griping and moaning about distribution of wealth, raising minimum wage, and not making enough money. Nevertheless, we can always count on the 40"+ TV's and $500 Xbox's to be sold out every thanksgiving day without fail."

Lol, mine was something similar yesterday. Im glad Im not at home dealing with the ****.

On another note, I think my wrist is broken. I'll find out on monday when I see the DR. Trying to keep up with 20-25 year olds on the football field is a bad idea.

Believe me, I get more annoyed by my aunt and uncle on my mom's side of the family bitching about how they can't afford their house payments but yet they have a brand new 60" tv downstairs and 55" tv upstairs, new stainless kitchen appliances, new front-loading washer & dryer, and pay for an expensive tattoo on their 20 year old kid that still lives at home with them and has never had a job. Priorities, bro.

Forgot how old you were
