Don't believe it was a hoax. There was also another person that died as well.

http://www.colemanracing.com/Clutch-...LS1-P6210.aspx

This new lightweight clutch weighs in at only 6 1/4 lbs. It features an aluminum flywheel with lightened steel wear plate, lightened floater plates, lightened pressure plate with aluminum fulcrum pivot ring and a lightened aluminum top plate with dual diaphragm spring for maximum clamping force. They are available to fit 85 or older SB Chevy, 86 or newer SB chevy, SB Chevy LS motors and SB Ford. That's what you want. Mine is a little lighter than that

Great for roll racing though.
Your engine is to small.......lol.

From Katech's site:

-For C6 Corvette including Z06 (excluding ZR1)
-Twin disk clutch
-Clutch disks and pressure plate from the ZR1
-Aluminum flywheel with 6 bolt pattern for standard LS engines
-Includes slave cylinder
-Includes pressure plate bolts
-Includes clutch alignment tool
-8lbs lighter than the stock Z06 clutch/flywheel assembly
-Flywheel weighs 12.0lbs.
-Drives like a stock ZR1 - stock pedal feel
-Proven to 700rwhp (drag racing) 800rwhp (street)
-800+ ft-lbs torque capacity - street/drag race, 600ft-lbs - road road race
-No neutral noise or chattering
-All of the benefits of a twin disk clutch and none of the trade-offs

And I'd have to say from driving it, the aluminum flywheel has had no effect on the drivability of his car. Of course, the cam probably has a thing or two to say about the drivability of the engine and clutch; and since he's using the Torquer 116, power comes on just like the stock cam.

I recommend this to anyone in a Vette. The C6 version a priced well too for a twin. The C5 version is pricey, but there's no doubt it'll deliver stock clutch feel a drivability but be able to hold 800 on the street.
I've never seen that clutch.....I just know the ls7 adds weight. One day soon well see how a ls7 runs with 40+lb off the crank.

Like I said....your engine is to small. Not enough tq. A friend has a neon with a light clutch and he can't hardly drive it. Discs were out in no time for him......has to rev the **** out of it to take off.

Town drive in my car. No revving the **** out of it to take off. It will chatter some from time to time. When it gets a little rough I pull a couple whole shots and it smooths up. It chatters less than the clutch in the 5.0 swap Mustang I've been working on. I don't know what clutch is in that car.....but it's not very good.

I have no idea.....but probably not. One of the keys to smooting it up is in the nose of the throw out bearing. It has to be to the inside of the pp tongs as much as it can be to gain that travel. Another way would be to run a smaller mc to increase travel. Mine mc is stock........which is why I try to tell people their shifting problems are not as closely related to the hydraulics as they may want to believe. Here is my hydraulic release bearing.......we do not have a slave......many people call it that but it IS a hydraulic release bearing. Here is my Quarter Master tirlight set-up. You can buy different height bearings to work with different clutches. You also get them with different nose shape on the bearing. I think Qtr Master has a complete clutch for these cars now. I would call them. I did my get up 7-8 years ago so I'm sure **** has changed. The parts I have has had the pt #'s changed now.

that does look pretty sweet, but me being up in the middle of butt-**** nowhere I don't have access to a plethora of parts to be modding like that. if I do a lightweight clutch it will be some sort of bolt in kit so I don't have to **** around with it.

There are bolt-on kits now. I did this before all that. Notch ran a spec mini clutch of some sort. It was a 7.25" clutch and a complete package. My set up is not really anything crazy. QM makes the tri-light release bearing adapter(a little grinding on it is required) and release bearing. They also make the button(flywheel) that the clutch rides on. The flex plate is from a auto that was modded just a little to get a wrench I made behind it to hold the nuts while you're tightening the bolts. Making the wrench and the clutch pedal stop was the 2 hardest pieces of it all.......Call CP products. They are very help full.
