Well, let me clarify. The amount of instant torque these cars tend to put down immediately tends to not work as well with a street tire or drag radial. Sure, any car can work with a slick... but there are some cars that car work well with a street tire too because of how the car puts the power down.

It takes alot more clutch and gas pedal control to get a great launch out of one of these cars. The fact of needing to get 4000lbs moving from a stop(with me in it) doesn't help it much either.

To clarify, the strong running LT1s seem to be few and far between. They are definitely more difficult to make fast than an LS1 car.
