why isn't the 5.4 4v a popular swap? is it hard to do or not worth it?

Not sure why everyone things the 5.4 is hard. All of my connections/wire harness required no modifying. Motor mounts the same. used my same heads, intake, flywheel, and mid pipe. Already had a 3" hood so it fit.

Intake?? I thought the intake would be different from a 4.6 to a 5.4 due to the extra deck height

Good shake down runs.

I will say that the car is definitely over geared now. I was ~1300 rpms over peak at the traps. No bueno. I also have to LOWER my shift points. I was over reving the motor. Average track conditions it 60' decent for what I was expecting. The morning it trapped the highest. But in the heat I lowered the 3-4 shift and it mph the same as it did in the morning. Anyways here's the slip for you Ford haters.

60': 1.58
330: 4.79
1/8: 7.44
mph: 92.16
1000': 9.71
1/4: 11.61
Mph: 118.76

First pass off the trailer I launched low and slow shifted it and it went 11.68@119.3 with the same 60'. Had I power shifted it, it might have went 120.

But got a neat picture from the photography people that were there. I did beat a Z06 (not sure what year) and a new ZL1 Camaro on DR's. The ZL1 was trailered next to me. Nice guy. He thought I was sprayin. lol.

Looks like a great shakedown! Looks like you had fun, no trouble, beat a couple cars, learned some things about the car and didn't break anything!

What gear do you plan on stepping down to and where do you need to shift if you don't mind me asking.

Thanks. I was happy when I left the track really. I built a motor in my garage from a bare block and it made it through the dyno session and me beating the hell out of it for 7 passes.

Right now I have 4.56's with a 26" tire. Not sure if I should go to a 4.56/28" or 4.56/27". I used to shift the old motor at 7100. This motor I think I should lower it to 6600.

I bet you couldn't be happier having started from sratch! Awesome job.

Go 28" tire all the way!! I bet you could improve your 60' with a taller tire

Looks good! I would go to the 28" or step down to a 4.30/27" combo especially if you are going to supercharge it.

Going to be in the 50s and 60s this week. Hoping it rains early this week so I can get the 67 Camaro out.
