I've been thinking about getting a personalized tag for mine, just not sure on what I want yet.

My buddy (who fabricates) has me tossing around the idea of going to a turbo setup

With Ron95zr1 tuning the ZR1 as we speak. Found out I won't have the M/T Bias-ply's for the track tomorrow after all so I'll be running my CCW C10's wrapped in M/T 345 streets in the rear. Stock heavy front tires/wheels. Fingers crossed!

Dude...
I'm telling you... You don't need a turbo setup. Turbo you're going to have to deal with lag and **** and it's just going to be boring on the street! This car on my pump tune literally pulls nasty Gs. I thought my 5th gen was fast, but this car feels so much ******* faster and I don't know why. (I think the 5th gen cam setup is off by a bit as in this car at 2k rpm it just hits you like a mother ******).

Just filled her up with more VP. Sunday we got dyno challenge. Will make a vid. Going to say I'm on pump gas and put my VP tune lol. Gonna shock all these 3rd world indians with 600+ rwhp out of a car I told them has 400 at the motor.

Some of the guys go with twin charged setups, utilizing the stock supercharger to help the turbos spool up, then bypassing it once you're into boost. There's a local guy to me with a LS2 C6 with twin 58mm turbos. Starts spooling in the upper 2k rpm range and comes in to full boost just before 4000 with a bone stock motor. He ran a 6.1 @ 118mph on like 10psi. With the drivetrain our cars have, I believe that I could get into the 9's with a stock motor, even with it weighing over two tons.

You also have to keep in mind that I had turbo four cylinders for the past decade. Lag isn't that big of an issue if you can drive. Having an automatic V8 makes it that much easier.

Is he the guy with the white c6 with a UPP TT kit?

I wouldn't go turbo on a V2. On a V1, yes.
You guys have the ability to make so much more horsepower very easily, across the entire RPM band no less, even on stock blower.

Have you ever owned a turbo car? One with a decent amount of power at least? I've driven a friends 630whp CTS-V with a stock blower. It's ok, but turbos are much more fun.

I'd take the instant pull of a PD blower over a turbo at the same power level anyday of the week. IMO there is no point in going the turbo route unless you are looking to make HUGE power.

Keep in mind if you're planning to make that kind of power you're going to need a rotating assembly too. The LSA's internals aren't too stout.

I agree with you there. Keep in mind though that turbo power levels will be easier on the motor than a blower with instant torque.

I'm not 100% sold on anything yet. I haven't purchased anything other than some wheels and Eibach springs. I'll probably start off doing mods that would work with either setup. I may puss out and just do a few bolt-ons and call it quits. Who knows...

The car or the turbo kit? His car and how it performs definitely made me want to consider a UPP kit when I do end up purchasing a C6

Why not do the ZR1 blower or a Whipple?

I'm curious to see the gains and how much you can do with a V2 with a zr1 blower

He sold the whole car. He had a picture up on facebook of it loaded up on a trailer, heading to the new owner.

I've only read a few stories of people doing the ZR1 blower and it didn't really perform that well for the money.

I'm looking at the turbo setup for cost really, and the power potential. If I keep the stock headers and heat exchanger setup, I can save a lot of money. $1500 for both turbos brand new, few hundred in fittings and lines, $500 in wastegates, etc. I could probably squeeze it out for $3500-4000 for just the turbo kit, not including supporting mods and that's assuming everything goes as planned. Complete Whipple Kits are over $7000...

Really?? I always figured they would be around the same strength as the L33's... Being factory built for boost and all..

Those little 5.3's can make 1000hp with almost nothing done to them...

There are guys making over 800whp on the stock bottom ends. I've seen a couple get close to 900whp. I'm not sure the longevity at that kind of power though.
