Default '02 Z06 vs '10 SS

I went out for a cruise last night with a friend around mid night. We were going to grab something to eat. It was a perfect night out. No clouds, mid 70's, and not humid. We finished up our food and went back out to my car.

Parked right across from me was a black 2010 SS with white stripes. I hopped in my car to leave, and as soon as I pull out of the parking lot, the SS begins to follow.

I'm heading back to my buddies house and get on the expressway. Sure enough, the SS is following me. I'm in the right lane and he's in the left. No traffic out and miles of straight roads. He was modded. I believe he had a full exhaust since the thing was obnoxious.

The first run, we do a 60 roll. He honks it off, and we both get an even start. I'm in second and start pulling on him. Not hard, but a steady pull. From 60-130 I was 1.5-2 cars up by the time I let off.

Second run... We both slow down and he yells for a 30 roll. I drop it down into first and he beeps it off again. We both spun, but I was able to catch traction first and pulled 3-4 cars by 125.

I've never seen the car before and I dont know exactly what he had for mods. I know he had at least headers/exhaust since the thing was loud. I would prob. assume a CAI too.

I was fairly happy with the results... I'm not going to say anything mean and or funny like my normal stories here...

AAahhhh.... Who am I kidding? I was suprised at how well the dump truck stayed with me. You know? For being almost 2 tons and as aerodynamic as a school bus, he should have just stayed at the trailer park, polished off his 30 pack of bud light, and finished watching vintage nascar races.

lol

Haha that last part of the story got me cracking up. Nice kill tough. I would have thought you would pull a little bit more, but not knowing his mods for sure that really can't be said. Make sure you get a video next time though, you know we like those around here

Just for clarification, none of the mods you have listed in your sig are installed right?

My car is still bone stock. It went 12.68 @ 112. The mods are going on July 5th

Haven't had it dyno'd. I would assume 365rwhp.

Good kill, OP. As far as your car putting 365 to the wheels, stock... That would be on the highly optimistic side. I would guess more like 340-355.

This guy is absolutely right. I made 354rwhp on my C5Z when it was stock on a dynojet.

Guess again. My bone stock 02 z06 with 78K miles put down 360/357. Op should be seeing that if not more

If he's bone stock I would be doubtful if he see's much more than that. I've seen bone stock ones put down 365whp before but that was outside of the norm. Most of the ones that get dynoed at the local shop put down anywhere between 340-360whp.

You're saying 360 is the low average end of stock dynos for the 405 hp z06?

im saying that 02-04 z06's dyno on average 355-365 and the car actually feels like it has that kind of power because mine def feels noticeably quicker than my previous 02 trans am M6 that put down 370/385 when i had it... 340 seems way low for an 02-04 factory stock c5z...

oh and i forgot to mention that it was 85-90 degrees outside as well, at the time i dynoed my car

01 C5Zs have put down power in the 34x rwhp range.

This^01 z06s are around that the 02's on up are around 355-365 go look on corvette forum for stock dynos. A healthy z06 with full bolt ons will knock on 400whp all day long some even pass it and thats with the nasty irs sapping power.

My 02 crate ls6 in a camaro passed 400rwhp easily. It made 413. I'm actually looking for 420 after the addition of a fast 90. Ls6's are strong.

So, besides the differences of the 243 heads and a tiny bit bigger cam.... what makes an LS6 any stronger than an LS1 !??
