Early fall or early spring. Goals are 550-575whp with just headers and passes solidly in the 10s.

It's a street car and seems he is looking to make good power with minimal mods. I am assuming 93. Later if he wants more power then he could add meth. E85 wouldn't be worth the hassle for that power level imo.

I agree, but I would think that 575 would be pushing the envelope with 93 only and stock internals/compression. I know very little about TVS setups, so this is pure speculation. I have heard that the 1900 can support over 700 hp with ease. Again, no real knowledge of this.

It would all be up to the tune, granted that blower will support that power level which I'm sure it can.

LOL'n at all the bs speculations here. Who gives a fock about some guy who enjoys his to drive his car and race other people. Some people act like they have lost lots of money over the fact that he has beat them or a friend supposedly faster car. Wierd things happen on the street where some cars hook and others don't...

On the street from a roll shouldn't be an issue. If he can stay away from wheel hop he should be fine.

At least put a catback on so you can make some nice noises while surprising a people.

Also, you should look into a cold air intake. I heard those are worth at least 92hp.

Same as in, what level of abuse it can take? Yes, mostly.
Same as in, exactly the same? No... The GTO uses an IRS.

Although still not strong, they aren't anything similar to each other.

They are similar in that they both drive the rear wheels of GM cars.

I've always wondered how much the GTO rear can take, some say hardly any because of wheelhop; others say with a bias ply you are good to go. I wouldn't want to be spending 5k on a rear, I know that.

Lemons has it. For the most part wheel hop destroys the rear.

Yup, I would launch @ 2500 on the street no problem with DR's.. Took it to the track and FAIL.. Did a good burnout try to leave the same maybe a bit harder but still between 2500 and 3000, ended up snaping my driveshaft and breaking my rearend.

Been there.... 3 times! 1st.. wheel hop. 2nd... 4k launch. 3rd... shifting into 3rd with street tires. Next time, a 12-bolt will be going back in. For sure.

GTO rear is alot stronger then the Fbody rearend, but the driveshaft is a different story. here is how I've been told by various GTO vendors it goes: (*this is for '05-'06 cars. '04 rearends are much weaker)

450rwhp upgrade driveshaft
500rwhp upgrade axles
550-600rwhp upgrade the inner stubs, and stock posi unit needs a upgrade too.
650+rwhp outer stubs

There is quite a few guys making at or over 1,000rwhp with just the upgrades listed above. And upgrading to anti wheelhop axles will fix the hop issues. About $2500-$3000 to upgrade it all, add another $400+ for gears if 3:46 isn't steep enough for you.
