I just looked and noted 149 again, but this time I see it says speed limited... and the V6 is 115(though another test showed 112 on a track).

Without the limiter the 5.0 will do 183mph stock. It is a saftey issue so no F-bodies get blown off the road. In the early to mid 00's the only issue was the F-bodies getting their doors ripped off. Now it has been reported of some serious wrecked caused by them being blown off the road by the 5.0.

I wouldn't expect that, but then... I didn't expect to see 181 from a near stock Lincoln MarkVIII, and it happened... Seems someone did that on the salt flats back in 93-94 and they changed the ECM(removing limiter) and wheels(moon) as well as lowered the car(changed the air suspension ride height, I suppose) and removal of cats/opening exhaust...

Surely they made other small changes, like mirror removal, but the car had FAR LESS hp than the new Mustang... like 100+ less. Would the Mustang run 183? I don't think so, unless it also had changes to lessen drag, ride height, whatever. I could see it running 170's though.

With just a cold and and tune I had mine up to 165ish. Playing around on the highway with a friend on his bike. He shot past at about 200mph. He has a ZX14 with exhaust, tuned, air shifter, and some other stuff.

I have two friends that bought new 5.0's and it's crazy how they respond to little mods. Most of the mods, you barely get your hands dirty.

Good race op they're strong cars. His 5th is 1:11 so its like you being in 4th when you shifted into 5th you hit overdrive so thats why he blew by you. You should have llwered the speed and went into third lol woulda been a drivers race all the way up. good race though

the fastest i have heard of is a 3.31 car running 176mph in 5th(1:1). he ran out of gear. a coyote needs 3.08's for a top speed run.

Ya def not a bad thing to have a few losses, especially from a nice car like that. Too many wins without ever losing is boring.

Everything I am seeing says 155mph, electronically limited. The '99-'04s would do close to 150mph with enough room, and they make ~140rwhp less... so it's not really a stretch that the new GT would do more than 155mph.

Cobra? Why of course.

My '99 GT would struggle to 140..can't recall if it ever got there.

Like I said, with enough room. The drop in rpms when you go into 5th gear hurts, but it will eventually get up to ~145mph or so.

I know it took my Cobra half the county to reach 160mph.
