I dont know about fuel economy being better. Atleast with m6 cars. My buddy is stationed at camp lujeune (think thats spelled right) and we went to visit him before he deploys again and my car averaged 28 mpg and his 99 ss also averaged 28 mpg. Both cars have full exhaust but stock besides that. Both of ours was the same atleast not saying all others are.

Well I'm pretty sure the EPA estimates from the LT1 to LS1 models went up. I've got a picture oa 1998 Camaro Z28 with the new sticker on it, saying 18 city/27 highway.

Of course personal driving results will vary, you can get 20 highway or 30 highway, depending on how you drive it, and all engines are slightly different.

Did you race an old guy that was too scared to take his car beyond 3k? lol
The LS1 never loses. especially to an LT1....

In all seriousness though, anything is possible on the street as others mentioned. Good Kill.
It would be interesting to know if all the LS1's you beat were 98-00' models.

My LT1 A4/3.23 is 17/25 gas mileage on the original window sticker. M6's are usually a little more.

It's all about the mods Lt's really. A bone stock LT vs. a bone stock LS? Of course the LT will loose. I have raced a SS LT down a highway in excess of 140MPH and I know he was packin' a few sneaky parts like I am. That was kinda freaky too being nose to nose at 142MPH. You just never know what people really have for an engine or what they don't know that they have.

Good kill op! I still like the lt1s but I doubt there are any real "factory freaks" out there. It's possible you have a stronger than average running lt1 I suppose. There are so many variables on the street (as we see in here nearly everyday) and that's more than likely the case here.

Yes they were all 98 - 00. All 99s as a matter of fact. I am attributing this to the amazing mechanical condition of my car. Thats all I can come up with. Obviously LS1s are supposed to be faster. I'm not an LT1 fanboy that tries to say they are equal motors. But I'm an LT1 fanboy non the less. Well I'm actually a old school sbc fanboy but nothing is wrong with the LT1 in there so I have no excuse to spend the cash to drop on in right now. But I have always thought an old school blower sticking out of the hood of a 4th gen would just be sexy....

Agreed. Definitely beating a dead horse. I, unlike most LT1 owners, accept the fact that I possess the inferior platform. Thankfully she'll be gone

Also makes you wonder how many people think they are driving "factory freaks" when a previous owner down the line installed a small cam, ported stock heads, intake, etc...

My 1998 Z28 ran 13.2's stock best and a constant low 13's. It was also an Auto. My friend with a 1996 LT1 with exhaust, cai and 3.73's couldn't touch mine. His was an Auto as well.

Just to poke a little my lt1 vette went 13.8@ 108 with just a cut up air box for the mod my thought on the lt1 being inferior is from the factor and basic bolt on yes go to real moding and the gap shrinks quick

Anyone who doesn't accept that the LT1 is an inferior platform is just foolish or kidding themselves.

Inferior? Yes. Junk? Not at all. (LS fanboys need to realize this ) The gap between the two are just a few bolt ons to the LT1 with a properly running, mechanically sound LT car.

And quit acting like you wont miss your ws6! lol jk

Make one of your friends buy it. Otherwise I'm trying to think of ways to collect insurance on it without getting in trouble

I have no problem believing the 13.8, as one of my friends had a '95 automatic Vette that went 13.6 stock. But his trapped 100mph. 108mph ain't happening.

There sure are a lot of LS1 fanboys in this thread.
OP enjoy it.

Lt1's can take on LS1's.....just like there are factory freaks...becuz there ARE.
The same way there are factory dogs. It just happens.
Is that your case or not?? we don't know for sure...without tearing apart your engine and spec'ing out if it is in fact all stock.

I had a 93...with several bolt ons..headers leading to a bullet muffler that ended under the passenger seat(-35+lbs)....1.65rr's...No MAF to worry about...down AIR down EGR. ZZ4 Camshaft. Heads ported by me..(bowls done, exhaust ports, intake ports all hit)...shaved for 11.5 compression...some superthin head gasket set...M6. fireball ign. A can of tire repair vs. spare tire.
Carbon fibered clutch of idk what brand right now.

Between me being an M6...a precise set of boltons...and being a bastard. I never turned down an LS1 match. And walked em by half car or full car many times.....and that was if they knew how to drive.

An auto off a rolling race would almost inspire a yawn...practice dropping to 2nd and shifting immediately to 3rd....or if rolling too high going to 3rd. You knowing what gear to drop to is essential.....you might be doing this naturally.

I found the best challengers would have to be M6's.

Of course I've lost to LS1's.....but they weren't stock and usually NOT auto's.

LS1 is a better intake/head equipped engine.

I beleive in the next few years...the SBC heads will be redesigned incorporating many of those advantageous. That would very simply even things back up.

The overall design of the LS engine is better.

If a stock or close to LS1 owner tells you he's never been bested by a dark LT1 owner on a very cold weekend day he's a liar.

And I love the LS1 platform. But the LT1 is not some bullchit 305 like SOME ls1 owners like to paint them.

Full modded LS1's with choice upgrades will win hands down. But auto vs. M6 makes a big big diff. on the street. So does rolling on or off the line. Driver.

And staying under 110-125. I got chit to prove in the 135 mph zone. And if thats what it takes for an LS to pull on me then I can yawn some more...they can take in the driving experiences of driving close to the car's limitations....my job wether they beat me or not is already done by then.
That's just street talk tho.

So enjoy it...slowly walk that fender or half a car as often as you fukn can.
Cuz as you can see some of them just can't stand to even hear it much less live it.

I've had a 200lb passenger w/me once......."that was a 99?.....im amazed.....and twice!!......"
It was street racing and we never got over 110. But I yanked half a car on him from nose to nose first run....then a full on the 2nd.....
As for 135mph?? who knows...it certainly doesn't interest me tho...this isn't nascar....and being wrapped around a pole isn't in my future if I can help it.

It can happen. Enjoy it.
