I think your belief is wrong. Ford has already upped the regular 5.0 with the BOSS; just a matter of time before the aftermarket starts releasing new products (ie. Livernois ported heads).

I don't know why I bother. I used to think you might be a great source of info on the new 5.0s but anymore it seems like every time you post you have their nuts so far down your throat they are getting scrubbed with Charmin.
But on another note, Sept 30th our car club is doing a track day and the 5.0 there (base plus comfort package, 3.73, relocation brackets, and upper control arm) will almost be guaranteed to make a 12 second pass (if the upper control arm kills the wheel hop)...finally. So far best was a 13.02@111mph. I can admit they have the mph to run deeper 12s and high 12s should be doable. Sadly a majority still end up in the low 13s.
On the street I would definitely say drivers race with a ls1 car but the 5.0 has a healthy advantage and should win.

All I can add to this thread is the 1 personal experience I had a couple weeks ago with a new 5.0. He came up on me at a red light, we rolled off in first and he then punched it so I did the same. We were dead nuts through 1st and into 2nd and then the top of 2nd and 3rd I gradually inched to about a half car before shutting down, great run IMO. My car is an 02 SS fully optioned SLP car, LT's, ORY, ported tb and custom tune. I talked to the guy after and all he had an intake and catback, he was cool about the run.

Thanks, you too! To think I almost didn't go because the weather looked iffy until the night before. The weather ended up being nice, I ran a new best and easily beat my goal for the car, and I met a couple people that I had only previously talked to online. All in all I couldn't have asked for a better night at the track

What we can take from this thread, is that anything cam happen on the street, and Ohioborn can't stand when people get real world races and are much closer than his fantasy paper races.

We can set the money up some how so no one can back out. Bring your car as sits right now.

I said on the street, because yes it can be a good race. How many people with brand new 5.0s are actually modding them more than exhaust? Get real man, not everybody can wheel these things to 12 second slips. There is proof basic bolt on fbodies can hang with a stock 5.0. How many bags of ice do we need to get you for you're butt?

Pretty sure this whole thread is about stock 5.0s, but as usual...
But if it makes you feel better there is a difference between "drivers race" or "hang with" and being "faster than" or "as fast as". IMO it would take a almost full bolt on ls1 m6 to be on equal playing ground as a stock 3.73 geared 5.0
But street traction and less than perfect drivers don't flatter them on the street

However clearly you are retarded. I am talking about a stock 5.0. Not a modded one, not a tuned one, bone stock. I raced a modded (intake, tune, full exhaust, I should have gotten rapped) and didn't get killed. It's cool through.
I am not going to drive how many hours, to race my basically stock LS1 verse a modded 12 second, god touched, not stock, 5.0. Sorry I have better things to do, and I really don't feel like handing my money over. Let me mod my SS and then we can talk. You got 70 hp on me, let me mod to say 400ish and we can meet in New Mexico. Hell I will even tape it and put it up here.
Stock for Stock it is a drivers race on the street.
