Exclamation Won't be knockin' the DSMs anymore!

Well, I know I can no longer knock the DSM's, cause I got my *** handed to me the other night! I was riding around town and this guy pulls up next to me and asked if I wanted to play around. My friend had told me about a guy in a talon trying to find someone to race, and that his car sounded pretty mean, but I thought "a talon sounding mean? I am driving a T/A with a dynamouth, and he thinks a talon sounds mean?" He wouldn't tell me what he had done, but just said it was built a little. So I said sure, and we headed out of town to run 'em. We started from a 35 mph roll, and I pulled on him hard all the way up to about 110 mph . Then the boost kicked in. I had my windows up and could not hear anything over my car, when all of a sudden there was this big wooooshhh! and this guy blew past me like I was sitting on the side of the road!!!! WTF?!!!

We didn't pull over or anything till we got back to town, where I said that thing is a little more than "built some". The guy rolls out of the car that has a full roll cage with gutted interior, and pops the hood while handing me a dyno sheet. This thing was puttin' close to 500 HP to the ground!!!! He looked at me and said my car had more done to it than stock too. I told him no and showed him what I had done. He said I had him scared for a minute because I was pulling on him hard. After hearing what he had done, I was even a little impressed with how well my car did too. This thing was purpose built though, and was bada$$. So, I guess I won't be pickin' on them too bad from now on

But on the upside, I did spank a new WRX, that had a boost controller and a few other things, about three times in a row. He would not race me a 1/4 because he said he knew I would beat him, but he said he could kill me in an 1/8. I am game for anything, so I said sure. I beat his ricer a$$ three times back to back, with him adjusting his boost each time. He finally gave up and headed home.

It wasn't the WRX that was rice, it was the driver! He was as "ricer" as they come, if ya know what I mean!

dsm's are not to taken for granted heck the 4g63 has powered cars into faster times than any ls1 in the 1/4 so far i believe. they will run 11's with very little investment but there are still a million out there that have idiots driving and modding them that have no idea what they're doing that spend twice the money to go half as fast

"nope it's stock ... "
haha

Seriously tho, it gets scary when some of those little imports get those huge turbos spooled finally. I had alil crx or some **** get its *** kicked awhile back, until its turbo spooled, then i stopped pullin him. He never caught up to me, but it was a very erie feeling to say the least.

not if it's built right. same as a turbo ls1 if you have the right turbo for your application minimal turbo lag

yes, i know this, but i was saying that if you want a 4banger to make big power (or even a 6 cylinder) like a v8, you usually need to put a big oversized turbo on them, sacrificing the low end due to spool time. real power doesn't come free, you're always trading off something somewhere.

Im possibly buying a 91 Talon AWD for a daily driver. It needs a new clutch, and a headgasket. I think I can scoop it for about 1000.

Ive always liked the twin turbo setup, with one large and one smaller turbo ... always thought it was a cool concept. Then again, who doesnt want a HUGE turbo with a little shot of nitrous to spool it up?

Nice death/kill. I totally understand the "ricer" driver theory.

i think full interior is in the 8.70 range with the full blown rwd racecars with a lenco or some with powerglide are bottom 7's high 6's there are some street driven 9 sec and a ton of 10 and 11 sec ones

yep, and sequential turbos are nice, but i would rather have the beast of a a turbo and just the little sneaky pete 25 to 35 shot to get that bad boy going!

the problem with sequential turbos is the dead spot during the transition where the car falls on it's face. thats why rx7 and supra guys reroute the hoses so they run parallel or switch to a big single. some do bigger parallel twins but it's usually not worth it.

Nice death and kills. My friend here has a nice little talon. Basically stock but still not a bad little car.

So, the fastest DSM's are rear-drive cars?
