Default cammed l99 vs boosted to hell 335i

Old run... bolt on, cam, tuned l99 (3.27 gear at time). Blew out my differential a week after cam install. Have some pretty neat pic lol. Now have 3.45 gears and have supercharger going in on tues to boost 10 and hope to hit 6xx rwhp/tq.

335 didn't want to tell me his mods but he's the quickest down here. I was trapping 118 at the track 2 weeks ago. He was around the same. I've been told he has quite a bit of money into the car (a good 10k +).

Enjoy.

Sneaky bastard asked me for another run after he disappeared for an hour. Buddy said he went to crank up boost to unstable levels for his engine. He only did like 2 runs on new boost and I still got him by half a car rolling lol.

No idea but he wouldn't tell me his mods.

He ran a 12 flat on "low" boost. On high he's a mid 11. But he simply does not want to tell me what mods he has.

man this dude spent money to make his 335 look like an m3 from the front. Not bad both fast cars.

Good kills. 10k+ in a BMW doesn't add up to a whole lot when you compare that to domestics.

I know. I'm sitting at about $20k into my build to hit 6xx rwhp/rwtq.. it would probably take him well into the 30s or 40s to get even close to 600.

It won't take $30-$40k for a 335 to make 600 once the fueling is sorted out for larger turbos. Longevity of the engine, that's unclear in my opinion. You can get a bottom 12sec @ 115-119mph car for a lot less than $10k...especially if you don't buy everything new. All you need is Tune, downpipes, upgraded FMIC, cold air intake, charge pipe and race gas/Meth injeciton will get you there. That can be done for maybe $5k with new parts. Used parts, probably 1/2 to 2/3s of that. I bet you the guy had all those parts I just mentioned and didn't want to tell you. I would have just told you what i had...if you beat me, I would just want to buy more parts. LOL

Good kill despite him sneaking some more boost on you.

20k to get 600+whp is retarded. Another reason I am glad I don't own a 5th Gen.

I forget everyone here makes reliable 600rwhp cars with $500.

I'm not spraying.

Used parts?

Do a price list. I have a hard time seeing a supercharger kit itself coming out to $5k

I got a used TVS2300 at $4,500... They start at around 6.5k and up new. I know FI for the 5.0 is just, if not more expensive than the 5th gen.

620rwhp? with 5k invested on 93 pump? Really..... Spraying 200? Great...? Point is I have constant power and my curve is sexier.

Boosted to hell? lol, he was probably running around 15-17psi that most guys do on meth. if he had full bolt ons it's about $4000 in parts with the most expensive thing being the catback(anywhere from $1200 to $2000). Thats downpipes, IC, intake chargepipe w/ bov or DV, tune, meth for about $2500 new. Now an M3 is expensive to mod. The 335i is probably the cheapest platform for a newer car to mod, but doing a catback will yield very little gains. The most that guys get out of 335i's is about 430whp on a mustang dyno and that is usually running meth with full bolt ons. I'd think that he probably spent more cosmetics than performance if he is saying 10K.

With that being said the 335i did pretty decent considering your mods. Good kill btw, they are no joke and can be very unassuming. I've had some really puzzled faces before especially since I have a 4 door.

He has an after market turbo. I asked around and I got some info. Not sure what size or details just know he has quite a bit invested both cosmetically and in the engine. Not really caring hell I could've invested 10 times more, a win is a win. He just came on rather confident that he'd drag my poor little American car hard. He traps around 118-120. The one chance I ever got to run at the strip here I trapped at 118. cam only.

Remember I don't live in the US, so everything costs about 30%-40% more to get here, pay taxes, etc etc. In the US I'd be sub $15k with my new tvs2300 build, but I have easily wasted nearly 5k in just taxes/duties/shipping etc etc.

There are no aftermarket turbos available on the market for this car yet. The only option is sending off the stock turbos to have them reworked. Trust me on that. There is no fueling solution for over 450whp right now but there is some shops that are showing promise. HPF and Vishnu are the two big ones. Still it's a pretty impressive win an I wouldn't doubt he's running meth and full bolt ons.
