can't use that logic. i good friend of mine had an m3 a few years back. he loved the hell out of it, and was impressed as all hell how well it handled, how well it got up to speed, etc.
he's a flight instructor. he never raced it. the shame was that an 18 year old girl blew a traffic light, and broadsided him, totaling that car.

I might do that, thanks! Like I said previously I plan on removing anything I don't need in my car to cut some weight, and I also planned on dropping the tire pressure to 20psi to get it to hook a bit better.

WOW some of you guys are clueless and giving the E46 M3 to much credit. A stock E46 M3 is not beating a properly driven LS1 stock vs stock not from a dig not from a roll and the fact someone said an M3 will pull an LS1 on top end is ridiculous. When I had my 01 WS6 I raced my friends E46 M3 all the time with the same results. 2+ cars from a roll and steadily pulling away as speed increases.
I raced a E46 M3 and an E92 M3 not to long ago in the SRT8. The E92 M3 was a good match but i still beat him by a car or so the E46 didn't stand a chance i put an easy 3+ cars on him

E46 Ms aren't that fast. I have a friend who has had one for 6 years, and i've been in a lot of races with or against him. At the strip it's common to see them trapping 104-105, they usually don't go much faster.
I was the camera guy in this race back in 2007 or so...i'll just leave this here. This is an LT1 car BTW

Sounds like it's gonna be a dig race, so if one car spins badly then it's probably going to lose. With an even start I'd put my money on the Camaro. From a roll I don't see the M3 pulling of a win unless it's due to poor driving or the race goes long enough that the Camaro has to get into 5th gear. Doesn't mean it won't be a good race, I just think the Camaro has the edge.
M3 coupes are a decent run for a strong LS1 car, with the advantage going to the LS1. The extra weight from this one being a convertible...I don't see that improving it's performance
You must impress easily

It is a real nice car, btw. Overall better car for sure, but there were no illusions about which was faster.

Seriously? ALL BMW guys are tools looking for attention. Hell, I'm pretty sure "Bavarian Motor Works" is German for "Small ***** Nerds". Or is it "Always ****'ing Broken"?

HAHA true! And he HAD to get the convertible just to make it worse lol. Those cars are disasters. My mom has had 5 series... both had high maintenance out the ***... so much for the highly acclaimed "german engineering". Not to mention the aftermarket for those cars are not exactly the cheapest route to take. Overall, stupid cars to purchase in nearly every aspect, except if you want to look somewhat wealthy

the mechanic at the shop across the street from me is doing pretty well with his 1 series, although he's not had it to atco yet. his buddy in a 3 series is running mid/low 12's right now though.

Say what you will but a m3 is a 50-65k car depending on options back in the mid 2000s.
It's a nice lookin car with a nice interior and it handles impressively? Buddies m3 whooped up on my c5 at a road course. Lap after lap I couldn't catch him
