Funny story, when I worked at Ford as a sales man we had a WS6 M6 that was traded in. Sales manager told me to take it for a drive and see if I thought it was in good shape. I took it out and man was it a turd!!!!! I'm not sure if it was because it had stock gears but this thing wouldn't get out of it's own way. I hit 2nd as hard as I could and it wouldn't even bark the tires. I figured there had to be something wrong with it but that's the only LS1 I've ever driven. It was dark blue.

Ouch, way back when I first looked at fbodys I drove a 98 a4 3.23 and a 95 a4 3.23 both z28s. I picked the lt1 for the reason you stated, the ls1 just didn't feel right.

Oops. Haha

A muffler doesn't make rasp.

If you want good flow and be quiet buy my Dynomax Ultraflo welded mufflers off my 95. They are 3" ovals (more square actually). I'm going full on drag car sound with some bullets.

Mach 1's are so damn slow. I wish I had the video of my friends bone stock 98 trans am auto with 2.73 gears killing this guy in his full exhaust mach 1. They race like 5 times because the guy in the mach couldn't bring him self to believe his car was slower than possibly the slowest factory LS1 ever made. My .02.

There is so much evidence that mach 1 and ls1 car are a drivers race stock to stock its beyond sickening that people still try to claim otherwise.

What did your car run stock? What does it run now with what mods? Just wondering...

This. I'd be willing to bet that Mach was an automatic too.

The reality is they are farther apart than you think. The only thing keeping a mach anywhere near is the 1/2 trans gearing. Ask stoppy about his street race with Sepno.

On the street from a roll the ls1 is going to have a much easier time (I trapped 108.59 bone stock) but from a dig my best ET stock was 13.19 which can be obtained by a Mach 1 with a skilled driver stock. If I'm not perfect the Mach 1 wins, that to me is a drivers race.

Correct, sir! I had the same mufflers and the ride was nice and tolerable... When I decided to really go "race" with the thing, the bullet was just hitting the market and I snagged a couple for free(to show 'em off), so I said "SURE!" Nice thing about them is, at idle, they seem quieter than the Flowmasters and about the same as the Ultraflow. At WOT, however, it's a noise to behold. I miss that!

And there lies the problem. Stoppy barely trapps 108 with mods. If a mach can not utilize the 1/2 gear for their momentum with a good tire....well then they are toast. Machs can do well at the track, but on the street they are not that strong.
