95 Z28 vs 97 GT 4V Swap
So a bud of mine just got his 97 Gt back on the road last week after doing a 4V swap in it. Car has a 4V cobra motor(96-98 version), pro motion built t-45, bolt ons, tune, and 3.73 gears, my mods r in my sig. He as been talking smack since he got the car done claiming my little LT1 cant hang with the big bad 4v. We have been trying to get a run i but now that I work nights its been hard to fit it in, but on my way to work last night he rolled up on me. We had a open road so it was time to get it done. We ran 2 times both from a 30 roll( i know, dont even start), three honks and we r off. I crush him on the hit and pull 2 cars instantly and hold him there till about 110, next run had the exact same result. Afterwards he pulled up next to me and called BS, says there is no way I can beat him like that, says i have more done to my car and im hiding it.....I dont, whats in my sig is my car. Now hes running smack on facebook saying I have stuff done to he car that im hiding like gears and maybe some hidden spray.....what a dumbass! Another win for the lonley ole LT1

Not to say all 96-98 4v's sucked but i beat a few in my old bolt on automatic PI swapped 98 gt vert, didnt even need the spray. Beat a few in my old 306 gt40 headed 86 notch. Love the look of the sn95's but they arent fast.

Ive had a 97 Cobra and a 01 Cobra, also a 97 PI swapped GT, 92LX hatch, and a 91 Notchback so im no stranger to mustangs. I thought my 97 4v was a very strong car, more low end torque than my 01, I really thought it would be a dead even race but my car is very strong for what it is....its not the first 4v my LT1 has beat.

I put my buddies 01 Cobra vert away, pretty easy before my cam swap on a 50 shot. He came back with a newer boosted 03 termi. Put that car down with a new cam, converter, tune and a 100 shot. He finally got me with a ported blower, 2.81 pulley, tune, suspension work, CAI and new exhaust. I now have jetted up to a 150 shot and new tune.Trust me brother, it's never ending once you start LOL.

Good kill!
I remember when I had my stock 1994 Trans Am (A4) I raced a couple stock (or stockish) 96-98 Cobra's and they were able to slowly walk away from me every time. After a few bolt-ons, including shorty headers, I was able to turn the tables and slowly walk away from them.
The LT1's and older Cobras make for a very fun matchup (I know the car in this thread was a GT, but it's got the same motor).

Not to be making excuses but if he did that motor swap and didnt get it either retuned or do a complete ecm and wiring harness swap with it then he is down on power and isn't running like it should be. But good kill! Love to see guys modding the LT1's

The Mustang was tuned on the dyno using SCT, mine is on the stock tune but that will be changing soon.
