Default Ran my friend's turbo Sentra last night.

My friend and I have been talking about lining up for a while now, but were never quite able to make it happen until now.

He has a 1991 Nissan Sentra with a VVT swap and a T28RS turbo setup. He usually runs 15 psi, but he just installed a new boost controller and it was giving him some issues so he was running 11 psi last night. He said he's not sure how much power the car makes at either boost level, but I know it's very light compared to the cars I'm used to.

My G8 has bolt-ons, including headers. I dynoed 350/367 last time out, and have since swapped the Solo Performance mufflers back on, so it's possible I'm up a few hp. I also have the nitrous, but we decided to see how the race went on motor first since he wasn't running 100%.

We kept it simple, just a couple cars followed us out, no passengers, no drama, etc. He chose a 45 mph roll, which was good with me.

With no traffic behind us we slowed up for a bit and let the few cars on the road get way up ahead, out of sight. We lined up and I honked it off and hit it. Right off the bat I jumped out about a car or a little more and at first I thought he didn't go, but then he stuck there so I knew he was in it. We stayed about like that up to 110 mph or so and then let out and jumped off the next exit.

From the way I jumped out, I figured he either wasn't ready, or he was having issues with the car, and he confirmed that he couldn't hear my honks. We agreed to go out and run the same race, but he'd leave his window cracked so he'd hear it this time.

Judging from the first run, I figured it was going to be a good race if we left at the same time.

We lined up again at 45 mph and this time he was on point with the start, staying dead even with me when I punched it. He slowly walked out about a 1/2 car and I thought I was gonna hold him around there, but once he got out a little his pull started getting stronger and by 120-125 mph he had a good pull going and was out on me by 3 or 3-1/2 car lengths (I was paying close attention and actually counting the lengths as he walked out, lol). At 120-125 we got out of it and pulled into a gas station.

I told him I was very impressed with the current setup on the car and he complimented me on mine and said he didn't want to **** with me on nitrous, lol.

We decided that once he gets his boost controller sorted out and cranks it to 15 psi we'll line up again and I'll run him on spray. He doesn't seem to think it's going to go well for him, but judging from his pull in this race I think it could be a great race

Nice runs. Very curious to see him on 15psi vs you on the spray. 100 shot?

Yeah, I'm just gonna stick with the 100 until I upgrade the kit and go bigger. I do enjoy changing the jetting so I can make the races as close as possible, but lately I've been in the mood to just go for it

If it truly is a T28 it doesnt have much more in it so dont expect a big difference between 11 and 15 psi.

I can only go by what he told me. He said it hits much harder with the higher boost level, but seems to taper off up top. Who knows, maybe he's right and it will be one sided on the nitrous. Either way I'll let you guys know!

How much power can one of those turbos make on a car like that?

Nice runs. Should be in your favor on the spray.

My friend's turbo G20 (SR20DET) went from 240whp to 290whp going from 10psi to 15psi... On a T25.

300whp max.

Those SR20s have T28s stock. I would know I used to run a ball bearing version of them on my stock setup. Running 23psi tapering to 17 by redline on my **** it made 283/300ft-lbs.

300whp on the T25 maybe... only the GTiR motors came with the T28. All other SR20DET motors had the T25.

Edit: It's the VVT (SR20VE) and he's running a T28rs... that'll pick up big going to 15psi. I'd say somewhere around 350whp. Couple that with the fact that the car is about 2500lbs WITH the driver I'd say the G8 is in trouble, even on the spray.
