I have driven a new stang but haven't thrown 5th at WOT. Every other car I have driven, 5th didn't come as easy as 3rd. Probably because most races end before having to throw 5th at speed. Ill take your word because I haven't done it in a new stang BUT it still think the mustang would have fallen back and had to make up a lot ground and that's probably why he let out. Either way, I think we can agree that the GTO driver has the bigger set.

good runs OP. the old ls1 Goats seem far and few between these days. and that stang should be a 11 second car if he has grip. i watched with my own 2 eyes a 6speed with exhaust, tune and slicks run 11.9@118

[QUOTE=LS1rob00;16079065]Why would you shift in to 5th while racing in an F-Body lol
because 4th to 5th gear change is about 115-116mph. We come up to 115mph pretty easy and fast so going into 5th for my car is a must if the vette is still accelerating in 4th.

Must be waiting to run there 5.0's for real when they see a fast 5th gen as they are more rare then Unicorns.
The one op ran should run close to mid 11's with a good driver and even ok driver trap close or least 118. Hell I know plenty that have ran into 11's with less work then one he raced. and trapped 116-118.

Thats funny cuz your the ony one that ever see's this ****, or I forgot... your always talking about these gutted shop cars with slicks, but never mention that part Sorry but till I see it in person and talk with the guy doing it, I dont buy it. Do you actually think his GTO is a mid 11 sec car... I dont, he does not even have it all worked out yet! Had no problem running with this 118 trap speed 5.0! I bet if you had both cars at the track they wouldnt touch 118, but I live in the real world.
So your answer to his car is? As for my car I will demolish you any day of the week. So I am not worried about it. I have yet to see a SS run anything respectable. Any thing at all. Seen full bolt on ones run mid 12's and then SC ones that make 660whp run mid 12's as well.
To all the 392 pole smokers in this thread.....
Finally got the 2012 back out after making some changes when the car ran a 11.88@119 in negative DA.
Mods done since last outing:
Circle D 5C converter
Pypes full exhaust with catted x-pipe
3.31 rear gear
Rear control arms and brackets
Strange front brakes
Shaftmaster alum. DS
We did a few comparison runs with the JLT CAI vs. stock. We got 2 clean passes with the JLT before the track got hosed down and the timing lights run over. After a 1+ hour wait and swapping the stock CAI and uploading the tune, with the only change being the MAF transfer function, we squeezed in 2 more runs.
Results:
JLT CAI
11.34@122 60' - 1.62 DA 1,880
11.35@122 60' - 1.64 DA 1,671
Stock CAI
11.49@119 60' - 1.74 <-------I loaded the car up too much on the converter and spun terribly DA 1,208
11.31@119 60' - 1.61 DA 1,208
Notice the 3MPH difference however bear in mind the timing lights were run over. After the lights were fixed, everyone at the track was running 3MPH slower with similar ET's.
Breaking everything down to correct for DA to see how much the car gained with these mods:
Previous corrected time 11.94@118
Current corrected time 11.16@123 <-----base-lining at 122 as the car with the stock CAI was running faster and quicker at the 1/8 and 1000'
A gain of almost .8 and 5 MPH.
Timeslips:
There was a 2010+ GT500 there running 12.4's with slicks and skinnies, 2010+ Camaro SS with exhaust and who knows what else done running 13.3's and a CTS-V Coupe on street tires (insert ZL1 here) running 13.8's. I have video of these runs and will post links when uploaded. Sadly the 392 was AWOL but there were plenty of Challenger R/T's running 13's.
All said, I highly doubt the 392 with bolt on's will come close to the times I ran. As mentioned before, I take my **** to the track and run the Hell out of it vs. just speculating over the Internet with no facts to back anything up with.

You sound just like the Mustangs guys in 1998,1999. It is for real, you may not like it and you don't have to embrace it but you can't deny it, when you do you you just look silly.

Dude why all the hate? You must not get out much or your really butt hurt about what you run in your car. I've seen quite a few 5.0's running low 12's high 11's, with my own eyes with nothing more than a tune and DR's and maybe some exhaust. It is one of the main reasons I bought one.

I have yet to see a 5th gen or SRT any thing run what we have ran in our 5.0's mod for mod. Be it what it is it just isn't happening. Hell I have yet to see a 5th gen run worth a **** as I said before less it was one the big shop builds form Lingenfelter, Texas Speed, etc etc. Seems the real owners are doing some thing wrong.

You said it LOW 12s HIGH 11s... no hate, I actually like mustangs to a point just would not own one. I am calling bullshit on these mid 11 sec passes at 118 if you pat attention to what he claims...with the mods you are talking about ya low 12s high 11s, i agree. No I am not butt hurt about anything with my car, my car runs just fine.
