Default Bolt-on SS vs. Evo VIII, J35 swapped Civic, and turbo Civic

Got in a few good runs last night after the FOURTH meet I went to... I'll describe as best I can. My setup- 02 SS, lid, LT's, 4.10's, Yank SS 4K, tranny work, AFR 205's, MS3, minor weight reduction. I weighed it today with 3/4 tank of gas, spare and jack, multiple soda's, jumper cables, tire iron, and a good bit of paperwork... She weighed in at 3340 without me in her.

Other cars- EG hatch, GSR swap, 7676 turbo, 3 inch dumped DP, dumptube sticking out of the hood. Dude said he was putting down 475 on 19 psi with pump, clean setup.

EK Civic hatch, J35 swap, some weight reduction, running on a 125 shot.

Evo VIII, no clue except for exhaust and wheels that I saw.

Here's the story: After a night of going to various meets, We wound up at an abandoned Target, everyone was shooting the ****, looking at everyone else's cars. All the ricers had already gone home (past their bedtime, I guess?), and the only thing left were the fast imports, some 'vettes, and a few mustangs. Turned down a race with a bolt-on Cobra (no cash on me), everyone decided to cruise to one last spot before turning in. Everyone hops on the interstate (like 50 damned cars). I see/hear a couple runs going on at the front of the pack, and mosey my way up to see what's going on. I wind up next to the boosted Civic I'd been checking out earlier, and he gives me the wave and holds up three fingers. I nod, and we slow down to about 50. We go on 3, he gets the hit, and immediately pulls about 4 cars. I hit third, stop losing ground, and pull back a car before we shut down. We go to line up again, and the J35 lines up on my left. Everyone immediately falls back behind us to watch. I look to either side, and decide, **** it, I'll just let it hit OD if I have to. We line up at about 50 (these rolls are killing me), and I honk it off. Me and the turbo Civic both get a good hit, He pulls me by about 2 cars, and I wind up about a length in front of the EK. I hit third, and the J35 has its nose next to my door, and I'm about a length behind the boosted Civic. At about 130, I'm next to the Civic, and the EK is still right there on my door. About 150 when we shut it down, the EK was about 1 and a half cars behind, and I'm dead even with the boosted EG.

We dipped to the next spot for a few minutes, then it starts raining, so everyone bails. I wind up in the right lane doing 35 with my hazards on trying to keep the 'camaro between the lines (skinnies and DR's SUCK SWEATY ******* in heavy rain). As my rear end is doing the damned Conga, the Evo buzzed by me. About 15 minutes later, I'm out of the storm, and cruise by the Evo. He buzzes me two or three times, and I decided, **** it, I'll run him. We line up, go from a three honk at about 45, and I lost two lengths while I was fighting for traction (I think the road might have been damp ). About 80, I'm on his door and pulling hard. When I shut down at 125 or so, he was 4-5 cars back.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with how my night went. Any thoughts?

Thank you.

I just found out that there were a few people recording and the EK had a GoPro, so hopefully I'll have some footage soon.

Damn if I don't miss 40mpg interstate and 85mph on-ramps, though.

Man that is awesome that people still meet up and actually race here in Va. I stopped coming out a few years ago when people stopped racing and just talking $hit. I would love to meet up with you guys down in the beach area!

Great runs btw!

AHH! The TL type S, one of the cars I'm considering for a daily. That's pretty ******* word for a EG/EK swap.

I bet. Still never seen one though, most I have seen either in my hometown or up here in Phoenix is either H2B, k24/k20 frank, or ls/vtec (super typically now). I am assuming the j series stuff is just crammed in the engine bay worse than a h22 would be.

It's pretty funny when you first see it, honestly... A huge-*** hole cut in the hood with a v6 sticking 8-10 inches out of it. The guy who drives it just had the plastic engine cover hydrodipped wood grain, too
