Definitely not ideal if you want to make N/A power. But that doesn't mean that they can't be fun with some bolt-ons and gears. Full bolt-ons/gears/tune/DRs they *can* crack into the 12s, and that's good enough for many people when it comes to a DD. I would have been more than happy with some LTs and 4.10s in my old car.

Even some of the best drag racers in the country had a hard time getting in the bottom 12s with every N/A modification possible including weight reduction, 4.30 gears, slicks/skinnies, etc. They're slow period.

There was one on that list that they said ran 12.77 on street tires with just bolt-ons (#2). I imagine that was probably a little weight reduction as well, but that's still pretty impressive.

Yeah, there always seems to be that one ringer in the bunch.

I don't know why Ford didn't put a 6spd in the Mustang before the '03 Cobras. Double-overdrive certainly helps gas mileage.

I wouldn't call that best drag racers in the country. Also a lot of those setups suck and do not have the new tf heads. At 3k raceweight and tf heads with custom spec cams there is no reason a 2v couldn't see mid too low 11s. I think its pretty badass that the little ole 2v has been 9.72 @ 136 with similar compression and weight as the texas speed stock bottom end ls1 record car of 9.6x.

That would've been much better than the T-45 and 3650 5-speed trans. I'm assuming cost had a good bit to do with it, as well as the fact Ford knew people were going to buy them anyway.

Notice I said "some of the" best drag racers, and I am not sure how old you are but several of those guys are renowned Mustang drag racers that have been in the scene for a long time.

Low 11's is pushing it even with the new Trick Flow castings. Going to take a very light car, gifted driver, and excellent conditions to accomplish that. Basically all stars in a aligned. lol

There is actually a guy on the Mustang forums with a 2v, it is his drag car but he could easily drive it on the street if he swapped wheels/tires, and he is running a 7.84 @ 86.01 in the 1/8th. In the quarter he runs low 12's.

I am familiar with some of the names but I have seen a 3500lb cams only 2v go 111 so to me its not impressive.

He probably didn't tell you everything he had done.

That raceweight throws a red flag to me.

One notable name that wasn't on that list was Ken Bjonnes... I believe he still holds the record for an N/A 2V. High 10 @ 120mph+. Doesn't seem all that impressive now, but that record was set back in 2004. I think he's doing 5.0 stuff now. Wonder what he could do with a 2V with this new stuff available.

Right, and my vette went 10.9X@134 BONE STOCK and beat a ZR1 with a professional driver on the way home.

Seriously though, @ 3500lbs, it ain't happening. Heck, most cam/bolt-on LS1 F-bodies would be happy to run that number, and they make a good deal more power with similar weight. Sometimes common sense is the best gift one can have.

I am familiar with Bjonnes. Did a lot for the modular cars upon their introduction. He is infact doing the new 5.0 Coyote stuff, 9-sec TT car if memory serves correct.

I suppose he'd go substantially quicker now with the new aftermarket castings they have available now.
