108 mph car vs 117mph car. Wheres the hype?

My buddies bone stock boss in 2000+ da. Since when does a lid/catback f body run those times?

also forgot i have a ported TB as well.
So basically this was an unfair race due to a huge passenger difference yet people are still claiming the Boss is over rated? LOL, give me the keys to that boss and I'll show a mild bolt on 4th gen whats up. Give credit where it's due...these two cars should not even be close with good drivers in both.

Like its been stated: "anything can happen on the street"

OP, I read the whole story, and I believe its true. I just wish I got my race on video, I will continue to badger my co-worker to race again tho. haha.

I don't feel like researching it, FORD guys what the difference between a 2012 5.0 and a 2013 Boss?

When I was at my hometown track in MI, (US 131) last summer there was a 12' 5.0 there, I talked to the guy, he said it was bone stock, the best he could manage was a 12.91 forgot mph... Most of his runs were low 13's.... BTW... my car was lid/catback only at the time and I did a best of 13.1 at 106, in 85 degree weather.. forgot DA, but it was above 2000'.... I am certain that his MPH was no-where near 118 mph... thats hilarious that people would claim that.

I'll return to watching the shenanigans from the sidelines....

The difference between the two motors is comparable to the difference between the LS1 and LS6, as is the difference in performance capabilities. Ported heads, different cams/intake, forged rotating assembly. Mild but very effective changes. Boss 302s have dipped into the 11s bone stock, I believe

Hey!!! i know you from one of the ls1 sites !!!

EDIT::: Sorry i thought i was on mustangforums.com

and also i think this could have happened, if the 5.0 doesnt have the 3.73 gearing, and this was a very strong running ls....

that is if they are still putting the other gearing in them

To be fair, it looked like the car in that particular video was running DRs. But they have gone that quick (quicker I believe) on the stock tires.

he was on DRs but still wasnt launching hard. He cut a 1.72 60 on that pass. Later in the day he cut a 1.64 but missed third gear. And his times were far from the best ive seen. My car tore him up pretty good when we ran on the roll

This thread is funny. People are ignorant. FWIW I ran 12.9 Lid/Catback. That doesn't mean I'm coming anywhere close to beating a BOSS. 107-109mph car is nowhere close to a 115-117mph car. If you don't understand that then it's not worth wasting the time to explain it.

I've had pretty good experience with 5.0's in the last few weeks. When they don't live up to the "hype" 90% of the time it's because the owner can't drive.

Oh and you beat a stock L99 5th Gen? Congrats, those cars are TURDS out of the box.

I'm really not trying to be a hater but people need to open their eyes and realize what's obvious.

I can't promise that it has a good trans now. 2nd is very hard to hit. if i try to powershift it like my t56 it just grinds. i can ram the rest of the gears in it, just not 2nd.

That car has gone 11.5 at 118 in better da.

This was the first car to run that time... different car.

My buddies went 11.9 at 115. Da correction at sea level bring him to 11.7 at 117... right where these other cars ran. This is the norm... not freaks
