Hyundai vs Acura
#21
You're in the racing stories section. This is where we post and talk about races. You're doing neither... you've come here to hate and offer nothing.
Pretty much can't be modded due to Hyundai's super computers.
They don't run 13s. Boost limiting in 1st gear makes for 2.3-2.4 60 foot times. They would likely run 13s if the restrictions were lifted. They run a good bit harder (especially above 100) than their track times lead on.

my brother bought one for his wife to commute with, i was not impressed by the speed/pull at 30-40mph, but having said that, we're comparing it to a TL lol... high 14-low 15 second car at the track all day long. about what they (sonata) is rated at i believe?
junk.
lol: this thread taught me the following; if you own a sonata turbo, don't go looking for Camry's or Altima's with V6's hahaha
With a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds and quarter mile of 15.0 seconds at 94.7 mph, the Sonata 2.0T is legitimately quick. But the big surprise is how it completely embarrasses the all-new 2011 Buick Regal CXL. That premium-priced, turbo 2.0-liter is a full second behind at 60 mph and needs 15.7 seconds and 92.8 mph to finish the quarter mile. The Sonata turbo is also faster than the V-6 Ford Fusion Sport (6.8 sec/15.2 sec @ 94.0 mph) and splits times with the V-6 Honda Accord EX-L (6.5 sec/15.5 sec @ 95.5 mph), V-6 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ (6.5 sec/15.1 sec @ 93.7 mph) and Passat 2.0T (6.7 sec/15.0 sec @ 93.4 mph). Those times were pulled from comparison tests we did in the February 2008 and June 2008 issues. The Sonata turbo does not fare quite so well against its other V-6 rivals, however. Though the Sonata recently passed the Altima for the number-three spot in segment sales, the Nissan isn't that easy to pass on the road. The V-6-powered Altima SE we tested back in 2008 needed only 6.3 seconds to hit 60 and 14.8 seconds and 96.1 mph for the quarter mile. The Toyota Camry is faster still -- a 2007 SE model we tested laid down a 6.3-second blast to 60 and a 14.6-second quarter mile at 96.8 mph.

Ughhh this Sonata ran 14.4 @ 98-99 despite a 2.4 60' because of the boost limited 1st gear... not sure who the hell runs a 15.0 in one LOL
Oh, motor trend. They've been pretty accurate as of late!

The cobalt was 50% limited in first too but id never have said unlimiting first would help cuz in fact, it didnt. 1st gear on turbo FWD is prety useless and i pickd up nothing on my 60 foot by turnin the nannies off....so boost limited first is moot.
if u turned it off, it would mean more wheelspin or hop...not quicker ET's. Unless its limited in 2-4 too. Then u can say the big BUT BUT BUT it culda ran bla bla bla if not for the boost limited cant decode the PCM line

Motor Trend and Car and Driver almost always run slow times.... go check out Sonata forums and see what times people are running. C&D said my car runs a 14.1, people of CorvetteForum have run low thirteens. I wouldn't doubt that the 2.0T Sonata runs mid 14's. If you could override that damn computer 13's would probably be possible. Edit: with the right tires*

they're not quick at the track from what i remember.. we both go to atco right? have a time slip from my grand prix gxp vs a new (at the time) TL-s that went 14.8 @94 or so. he had a 2.44 60' iirc.
back to these cars, they're all over the place:
when they use the 1ft rollout they fly, when they don't not so much lol... question is do they use the 1ft rollout on most? or just when they "choose to"?
boy, i forgot how pathetic that tl was lol
mind you this was in -2000' DA iirc.. GXP was bone stock. notice the temp
back to these cars, they're all over the place:
Unfortunately for the Sonata, it was the only one that wasn't quicker than the aforementioned M5 and 500E. In fact, at 7.0 seconds to 60 and 15.4 at 91.5 mph to the quarter mile, the 2.0T barely edged the 200-horse Camry Hybrid.

Not so fast. Our test car ran from zero to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds and to the quarter-mile mark in 14.7 at 99 mph. A Camry V-6 cracks six seconds to 60 (5.8) and covers the quarter-mile in 14.3 at 99. A Mazda 6 s Grand Touring sedan with V-6 power hits 60 mph in 6.1. And both V-6 cars with automatics are quicker in the 5-to-60-mph street-start sprint.

Yeah and it was a blast
It ran 14.4 @ 98-99 it pretty hot weather. Faster than about half the cars there that night.
Actually my first run I smashed a 99-04 Mustang GT by about 5 car lengths LOL
I've seen even worse.
****... car and driver/motor trend say stock LS1's run 14.1 @ 99 so they must all run that!
You have to be a special breed of retarded to run a 15.4 in a Sonata 2.0T Lol. I literally drove it in off the highway right on to the track with my friend still in the car and ran 14.5 @ 97.

Haven't seen too many owners run the newer TLs, but I think the record for a stock 6spd 2nd gen ('99-'04 IIRC) TL/CL was 14.2 @ 100mph. Mid 14s @ ~100mph should be no problem for a newer TL.

U use that boost limited 1st gear line becuz it supports your twisted way of looking at it.
