Nope. Most of the time the way the powerband is carried depends on the part combo. But the most ive seen peak at redline, their redline is 1000+ RPM's higher than your average LSx, thus meaning a peakier powerband.

Peakier, higher reving engines prefer alot of gear. It helps keep you in the meat of your powerband.

+1 SOTP I preferred the LS3 over the 5.0, sorta like the E9x M3 vs C63 for me, HP with revs vs. massive torque from displacement.

my boss peaks at 6300 and carries it to 7800. Well atleast that was before i put the full exhaust on. We will see how the longtubes changed that when i go back.

lol ummmmm...nope.

and then when you consider that the 5.0 has better torque multiplication (gearing) and you can easily see how it at least matches the LS1. It pulls like the LS1 on the low end and then just keeps pulling harder than it after. I used to have an LS1 fbody. it didnt exactly feel like a torque monster either

That is your personal opinion. Personally i rode in my buddy's 5.0 with 3.73 option and i didn't know he was on it till half way through the pull. Car felt gutless to me. Idk, maybe im used to my car.

lol probably. Who knows, i was really psyched about getting a ride in it cause of all the stuff i hear about it on here and i was some what let down. Car couldn't even kick em out into 2nd gear. Dead hooked on the factory tires. It had 3.73's, intake and a mail order tune. Oh and also it had a sick grind in third gear mod and the sinking pedal at high RPM's mod at 5k miles. Which is pretty awesome too.

You're also trying to compare your results with a 3V mustang that had no requirements or need to stay in the upper part of the power band with a completely different gearbox versus a cammed motor that has had it's torque peak moved to the right on top of being heavier...

Regardless it's your ride/money but at least acknowledge your comparison is 100% apples to oranges.

A friend has a new 5.0. He says it don't feel as good as his old 3v down low. I haven't rode in it.

hey evan can you post a dyno graph of your boss?

the 5.0 makes its peak torque only 100-200 rpm higher than the 3v. and at 3000rpm the 5.0 already beats the 3v's peak torque output

You have no idea what the powerband on my 3v was. I revved it 6900 ish and wanna say it peaked at 6600. For a short period of time I had the frrp intake on it and spun it to 7200. My gto makes significantly more more power down low than my 3v did.

Well he went from one car right to the other. He was talkig about around town type of feel. He knew the 5.0 was faster but at a quick goose in town @ low rpm he thought the 3v was more responsive .

Nice curve. I did notice though that you actually have a peakier torque curve then i do. Probably has something to do with the TIVCT. Though my car doesnt make a very high tq number... it comes on low and carries it well. I want to see how running a nice merge collector header with no cats effects the curve. Based off the way it feels... tq had a huge jump. Im anxious to get this thing back to the dyno

Proving how stupid you are again. It makes 431whp and 408wtq on a dynojet. Dyno Dynamics read low.
