I did, and it still doesn't make any sense.
I quoted Al Oppenheiser's letter to Camaro owners in another thread with "MAC", it's not gonna do any good.
If the ZL1 was not competition for the new GT500 then why did the main honcho for the ZL1 make some butt heart comments when the power figures were released for the new in the future 2013 GT500 shortly after the ZL1 debuted???
ZL1 is nice. For a straight line guy or one who wants horspower the GT500 wins BIG time. I still think the Camaro is a better built car though. Talk to some people that have owned them(2013 and up GT500)....

^ butt hurt of the year award winner for 2013!!!
Give it a break dude!!
A stock 2013 GT500 is a direct competitor to the ZL1. GM failed with the ZL1 and IMO deserved to fail when they were chasing the 2008-2011 GT500 models with the design concept, frankly the ZL1 is over priced for its performance level. Even 10K in modifications voiding all warranty on it would get you to run door to door with a full warrantied stock 13 GT500....
As for the road course I'd rather take the 1LE with some bolts ons or a C6Z... I hope the general can redeem themselves with the Z28

Not that I think the previous Gt500's were that bad.....but they weren't that great either.
Are you two related?

Ya didn't miss much. It's all basic common sense and, besides, you've read it all before, expressed in innumerable ways.
"… Ford was getting its *** handed to it for the last forty years, consistently… Its flagship units losing to 15 year old F-bodies a decade after Chevy STOPPED MAKING THEM… and with the rollout of the new lineup over multiple brands, with GM moving into 'world class position'… Ford freaked out, panic'd and stuffed the '13 500 with a nearly fully modded engine and spectacularly large blower that blew by its traditional spot, as a means to become; or more politely put… to maintain some form of relevance. Blah blah blah…" Not much more to it.

I'm guessing at this point that you think everything that ford made before the 13 gt500 was junk then........cause the ZL thrashes all of it. To put icing on the cake the CTS-v does too. it don't take 10k worth of mods......it takes the right mods. But it seems like most would rather talk about how much they've done to those cars cause they can afford it than do the right ****.

The ZL1 is a 58K dollar car.
For the same $ you could take a 5.0 coyote or a LS3 SS much farther.
The ZL1 is a terrible car to mod when you look at total cost vs return...
Unless you think $75K+ to run 11.5s is awesome

They were junk when compaired to the 5.0 and the Terminator...

A 2.3...at a minimum shoulda been on those cars....that would be the first mod. Mod 2 is a tune. Mod 3 is tires......well maybe 4 wheels and tires. I hate those god damn 20's. I would source some Z28 wheels for it. Mod 4 headers.
People don't do **** right. I replied in a thread about a header tuned ZL. They stopped turning that bitch while it was still goin up in hp......like 6500 or 6600. ******* thing shoulda gone to 7000. Idk why guys are so reluctant to turn these engines.

ROFL!
DAM'! That's C o l d.
Your assessment of the ZL is somewhat shortsighted. Granted, there are better choices to be had in terms of SC, cam and tune… but that doesn't begin to tally the ZL1; a platform with an exquisite suspension, far superior to anything Ford has to offer and likely to remain so, for the foreseeable future.
The Car is the total package. And while I am happy that the General put it out there, it fits the placement in the line very well. But, if I were going to go $60 for the ZL1, I'd likely carry over the extra 10k and pop for the high end side of the V; redrummed in the extreme.

I do almost everything myself....so I don't even think about labor. If someone can't get one of those cars to run mid low 10's for $5k~ then they're just a plain retard. And it should be done with the stock heads and cam easily.

1-LT Headers
2-Stall (**** "rowin' the gear's". I might not win all the races, but it won't be because I missed 3rd. It's too much fun being on the other side of that one…)
3-Tune
4-B I G-A S S-B L O W E R and accompanying cam.
5- Tires
6-Tune.
7-Heads…
8-Tune
Nah… It's a great car. That Ford **** the bed with the 500 is not Chevy's problem. The cost of modding the ZL1 isn't all that bad, as those stock blowers don't just evaporate into the ether… Not everyone is out to run down the 500. Some guys are happy as hell to lay waste to the 5.0 down the street. Stick that ZL1 stocker on any bolt-on 5th-gen SS and ya got that covered in spades. So a fair chunk of the mod-coin can be recouped. And with a larger displacement blower and the typical bolt-ons, the 500 is easily covered as well.
I like it!

2: do you tune your own car?? Minimum $100.00 via HPt
3/4: you'll need to source some V6 brakes to ditch the 20s NT05r 305s are about $600.00+....
Decent set of headers is about $1,000..
So there's about $63,000+ invested working on your own car.
An 03/04 Terminator bought at new sticker with a 2.3L whipple would be stomping your ZL1... And still have enough cash left over to have a nice truck or a used H/C 4th Gen Fbody in the stable as well.
So I take it Redline Motorsports, Lingenfelter, Livernois, LG, Pfadt, all retards....???

Cooling mods should be the number 1 or 2 mod on the ZL1.

19's will fit over the brakes which is why I said those.
I bet you can find used ZR blowers for much less than 5k. But if your looking at a new one for 5k then I'm not stopping at a 2.3. I would then do a minimum of a 2.6+....maybe even a 3.2. Then your looking at 9's pretty easily. probably need some fuel upgrades then though.
Kooks....yep $1000
I have efilive. I do some tuning. A local guy also does some tuning to my car and he has a dyno. So he charges me about $300 for tuning and dyno time. He's a damn wiz kid at this ****.
