You say he shoulda been able to out run him. Like his car should be more what it is. Everyone with a clue knows if a certain car "could" be faster. The same thing could be said about the Honda. But it isn't, they aren't. The cars are what they are. What any car "could" or "should" be is always irrelevant.
Your Camaro ran 11.05 @ 131.3. It should be faster then that. But who am I to say that.

But since we have the same engine except his with a cam he should be faster than me. Here's where we have a problem you see. General consensus is that honda is a ~125mph car. I'm gonna walk it pretty good.......and he should walk me if his cammed ls6 is right. But it didn't work out like that. Thus letting me to believe his car should be faster.

I'll give the 5.0 the edge over the current car. Although I think it has to be a base optioned 5.0 to have that edge.
If done right I think a 5th gen has more room for improvement......most just don't do it right.

if the ls1 and mach 1 were a drivers race, then an ls3 Camaro and a 5.0 are DEFINATELY a drivers race.

Both cars have been out more than long enough for owners to get the best times out of each in great conditions at a great track. As far as I know, the best time for a 5.0 is 3 tenths quicker and 3-4mph faster than the best time for a 5th gen. They are very close in performance, and the different trim levels make street encounters hard to predict, but all things equal the 5.0 is simply the faster of the two cars. Just like the opposite is the case with the Mach 1/LS1 4th gen.

the base 5.0 has a slight edge at the track. any other mag comparisons have them within .1 second and 1 mph in the 1\4 either way. definitely much closer than the much closer drivers race between an ls1 and mach 1 as touted by the mustang bois.

different tracks/prep/drivers/days makes this statement completely off. That's where the mags are a more fair test. Same driver same day same track same prep.

If you stay n/A and going to build I would take the 5th gen all day as lots more options as you can do stroker setups. But bolt on for bolt on the 5.0 is killing the 5th gen. FI the 5.0 is killing the 5th gen as well. Even on both doing all out builds. The 5.0 is close to mid 7's now. And JPC still drives there car on power tours etc. The 5th gen is is in the mid 8's. Thats on all out builds that can still be driven on the street.
