Bolt on 5.0 vs Cam only C5Z

I know that seems like a lot cam only but I think it might just be possible.
My car did 402rwhp with just headers, intake, and tune on a Mustang dyno. Add a cam, FAST intake, UD pulley, and a lightweight clutch and it might just get there.
My WS6 with TFS 215 heads, cam, fast intake, did 455rwhp on the same dyno.

It would be tough for sure but on a 01 with the heavier valves I don't know. Maybe a Trex or that type cam, mods you mentioned with a ported fast 102,Vacuum pump,102 TB,Ram Air,EWP. Has anyone done it?

It's definitely not the norm, but rob, blue98sscamaro made 455 in his cam only ls6 and studderin made around 450 as well in a cam only ls1. I'd be more concerned with the time clocks instead of a dynamometer. Especially the dynamometer results of the exceptions, not the average.

Yea not sure why everyone is so concerned about dyno numbers. It's not like any two dynos will read the same. My old car made 406 on one dyno and 428 on another one 2 days later. Both dyno jets in similar weather.

I'm sure it has to due with the way the Internet impacts car enthusiast these days. A lot of car people enter a newbie phase where they get wrapped up with dynos. I give them their time to prosper, for I once was there.

Yes I am.
I know what it made at light bolt ons to. So yes this car is very low.
Cake. ...... If I put a cam in mine I would think it would get near 480.
Stock intake, spec clutch, stock catback, stock rockers, poopy mac headers I made 405 or 407rwhp on a dynojet.
On e85 or other specialty fuel like they do to really high hp coyotes I think mine could get to 440+ (dynojet #'s).
We made 5 more than what's in the sig with it but backed it off a little.

Of the 4 or 5 dynojets I have been on have all been very very close. Within 2-3hp max.

I have seen a few LS6 vettes hit 450rwhp with a big cam and all the supporting mods. Were they high reading dyno's? Hard to say. All I was trying to say is that with a cam in my car, fast intake, etc it might be close to the 450rwhp mark on the dyno I use. It might only be 420rwhp on another dyno, idk.
I agree...whether or not it hits 450rwhp....do the numbers at the track back it up?
Mine is a 02. You quoted what it made. That's as stock as I had it. The first pull on a dyno on the ls1 tune my car made 399.

Your at 402whp and no where near full bolt ons. So your a good example for these guys. A ported fast would likely give you 15+. A udp and ewp several more. 1.7 rockers are not worth much but do allow it to run a bit smoother above 6800. 1.8's will help a little but require a spring change. Depending on the miles on your car a spring change might be a good idea anyway.

Hio, your car is obviously not the norm, please stop touting it as such. You should just put something along the lines of "Anyone who cant do what I have is a failure" in your sig so you dont have to repeat yourself 10x a day on here.
OP, nice race!
