I'm not sure on a stock converter. With my converter I just punch it and my converter flashes. It might be better for you to stall it up to around 1500 to 2000 rpm's and then lauch. That should help you get into your torque range a little quicker.

owning an A4 myself and raceing for some time it really depends you wanna find the rpm that will allow you a good jump but wont hurt your tranny.....if it where me in an ls1 i just wouldnt do it...just romp on the gas let off a bit to catch and get back on it... save the tranny a bit of life

A little foot stall will load up the suspension and
lessen some jerk responses that make you lose
traction & hop. But you should practice ahead of
time and learn the smooth limit to non-tire-spin
launch as this gets you the best result with a
Torsen (once the tire lifts, traction drops big time).
Burnouts look impressive but quiet authority wins.

At the track when I know i'm gonna hook hard I load the drivetrain just a little, but only to take the inital force off the drivetrain, not for a racing advantage. On the street I just punch it and then feather it a little to keep it off the rev-limiter if i'm spinning bad.

Well at the track I load it up to around 1300-1400 rpm and nail it when the light turns. That is as high as I can load it up before the brakes won't hold any longer. That is on the stock stall and street radials. Times with that method in sig. Good luck!
